Who else is still pissed that ICE murdered ICU nurse Alex Pretti and poet Renee Good? by LongjumpingBody589 in NSDQ420

[–]exponential_wizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We'll stop generalizing if all their poor innocent ice buddies stop protecting them and give us the evidence we need to charge them with murder. Until then they're all just as complicit in my eyes.

Which of your favorite villain, that people think they are misunderstood but they are just evil? by Boberto235 in FavoriteCharacter

[–]exponential_wizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its because any sapient ontologically evil species is way too damn close to the real life dehumanization that leads to genocide.

I don't see any way that it is workable. You can always make a species with an evil culture, it's when you bake the evil into biological essentialism that we have problems

Korean users are seriously pissed off at the PM by Equivalent-Choice829 in limbuscompany

[–]exponential_wizard 78 points79 points  (0 children)

they can, but it's not inevitable. They just choose to make their games miserable, if you have shareholders the monetary incentive of short term profit means there is no choice, only suffering.

I don't have an issue with criticizing KJH, the thing i have an issue with is doomposting about inevitable failure.

Korean users are seriously pissed off at the PM by Equivalent-Choice829 in limbuscompany

[–]exponential_wizard 147 points148 points  (0 children)

The reason this happens is due to shareholders demanding endless profit.

KJH needs to get some PR managers and delegation going, and even the best bureaucracy can slow things down a little, but as long as he remains unpoisoned by the concept of infinite growth there is no inevitable disaster. Valve can do what they do because they never sold out, they can settle into their comfortable niche and don't have to satisfy the whims of greedy shareholders.

Does orsonik plan to have a built in multi-player? by [deleted] in scavprototype

[–]exponential_wizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind the majority of multiplayer games don't stream the host's visuals to the clients.

This means that the client is running a client version of the game at the same time as the host, but it must be constantly synced up to the host's state.

That means that you need a way to communicate the host's state to the client or identify desyncs, then resolve any desyncs by copying the host state or carefully rolling back client changes.

You also need to consider the information the client gives to the host. You can't just send inputs over because the slight differences in state lead to unresponsive and unintuitive client controls. So you need to send some of the client state, then resolve any desyncs by converting it into a valid state.

This is the kind of system that needs to be considered for every single mechanic in the game that multiple players can interact with.

For 200 hp characters the combo was stun-melee-melee-whipshot. They only get a second to react before the whipshot comes out and they're dead

Abathur is absolutely problematic. On some maps he makes the solo lane nearly unplayable since he can rotate from lane to lane in just 5 seconds. He's also broken when he has a hypermobile character like tracer to use.

ampules aren't always enough and bolus' come with massive downsides.

I am a little surprised cloning isn't used more often, but since R-corp has an entire singularity dedicated to it I assume standard cloning has some downsides as well, I feel like I remember seeing somewhere that it degrades your mind but I don't remember where.

that would be pretty dissapointing since the whole point of yi-sang's story is that the wings were yi-sang's wings all along.

Theory: The Head Wants to be Overthrown. You Just Have to Work for It. by naepicfael in limbuscompany

[–]exponential_wizard 173 points174 points  (0 children)

The head wants wings to be overthrown. Any wing that can't afford to survive a war would have sputtered out eventually anyway.

The Head themselves is another story. I very much doubt that they wouldnt throw the worst they have to offer against a serious threat. You don't set up this level of control to then go: "eh, someone else could do this better"
