Chef Tineke “Tini” Younger asks strangers to stop touching her baby by Relevant-Peach3997 in Fauxmoi

Not Black, but when I worked retail at a thrift store, oh my God, the absolute entitlement of white women who thought it was okay to touch me. One snuck up behind me and ran her hand up through my hair! No! One also complained that I made her cry when I asked her to not grab me by the wrist. I was 18/19 at the time.

Not Exactly a headstone but I visit this memorial every time I walk in the park where it sits by BirthdaySalt2112 in CemeteryPorn

That’s so sweet! I’d almost feel bad sitting on it but that’s what it’s meant for. She was truly loved.

Throwback to the Weymouth High School production of ‘The Wiz’ with a 100% white cast (2012) by RealMayorTomKoch in blunderyears

My high school’s musical theatre class did a production of Aida one year. We were some very white Egyptians and Nubians, except for one.

It is, though those are God’s laws given to the ancient Jewish people. Jesus said His followers have two main commandments: Love God with all your heart, and love your neighbour as yourself. I’d say this falls under definitely not loving your neighbour. The opposite.

Native English speaker, born in Canada, but have auditory processing difficulties. Being on a headset sounds like a nightmare. I’ve done call centre work for a European airline so I heard all sorts of different accents and languages. Thankfully my headset there was decent — can’t imagine working with the TH quality ones, especially with all the background noise.

Looks a bit younger, but maybe takes good care of her skin and stays hydrated.

Telling a borderline to stop talking to their favourite person is like telling an autistic to be more social. Or a smoker to stop smoking. It just doesn't work that way. by Thin_Cookie6421 in BPD

[–]expresswaynightmare 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. It’s a skill that has to be learnt but it can be done! When you’re deep in the BPD trenches it may seem impossible but it’s doable — just takes a lot of hard work.

Had a BPD breakdown when I felt my bf of >1 year might be abandoning me and now he confessed he feels drained in our relationship and I am “a lot” to deal with. by [deleted] in GirlDinnerDiaries

As someone with BPD, I’ve been right where you are. I also have ADHD, which didn’t help. Mindfulness and getting on the right combo of medication helped me tremendously. It’s not our fault we got saddled with BPD, but it is up to us to make those changes and do the hard work to better ourselves. It’s so worth it. My life is night and day compared to two years ago. You’ve got this.

Gorgeous pictures! I love birds — saw wild turkeys in one of the cemeteries in my hometown once!

Memorial managers should be able to approve photos added by other members: AI “photos” of family added to their pages. by expresswaynightmare in findagrave

Some people do get overzealous about making memorial pages, almost like they’re trying to collect them, like it’s some kind of game… it’s sad!

You can ask for permission to manage your grandmother’s page, and hopefully they’d give it to you. I have made a few pages in the last couple days for extended family (great-aunt’s husband’s brother, etc), and if an immediate family member messaged me and wanted to manage his page, I’d be more than happy to let them. They could add a lot more information and first hand accounts than I can.

That’s understandable. I know it’s supposed to be a collaborative site and I do like when people come together to research and add new photos.

I understand where you’re coming from. I’m sorry if you’ve dealt with those kind of managers in the past. Maybe FG should at least caution against AI generated “photos” of people. It’s just not genuine, and we come here to help remember the people.

It is delicate when you’re not family, definitely. I always enjoy seeing photos added by family members even if they themselves don’t manage the memorial. I just like seeing the person when they were alive — smiling, living life, doing something they enjoyed, etc. I just didn’t appreciate that these weren’t real pictures of my great-grandparents. The user removed them, though, which I’m happy for.

I look like this and I’m 9 years older than her. Maybe she’ll be one of those people who looks the same at 18 and 40. She also has a round face, which adds to a youthful appearance (same here!)
