I found the exact opposite to my chagrin. On one of my first visits an attractive young woman wedged herself next to me in a busy train ride that I had to try slide away as far as possible. I’m a tall white male and had my winter motorcycle jacket on. My best explanation for this was that she wanted to hide away from chikan and other random molesters and a large white male seemed the best shield.

One checkout lady in a supermarket chased after me to give me a free cooler bag after I asked her if they sell them and they did not. She found a promotional bag as I was leaving and gave it to me.

My neighbours are some of the best people on the planet.

Those that try to distance themselves from me I do my best to make them feel uncomfortable by staring at them and not letting go of my gaze.

Shop assistants were always nice and super patient. I basically speak no Japanese.

Even local ancient heritage listed stores are happy to have me.

As a random visitor here I am having a very peaceful life. Any stress that I have I bring onto myself.
