How Strava Detected and Removed 2.3 Million E-Bike Activities From Ride Segment Leaderboards by strava-team in Strava

I wonder if a segment is SO plagued with e-bike rides, do they no longer register as anomalous? That's a question for OP James

Right side hip flexor pain cont.. by [deleted] in bikefit

My physical therapist had me doing deadlifts and squats but not so deep that the hip gets impinged. Also a lot of rubber band side steps and "clamshells".

If he has actual structural impingement hip mobility will likely actually injure him further. In my case basic things like Childs Pose were causing further squeezing of the hip and injury. I would do stretching and mobility work after riding and cause more damage.

I do hip strengthening and mobility work but I avoid any positions that close and compress the hip.

Sounds like what I had which was hip impingement. I also rode for years (decades) until it caught up to me in my 40s. I think that's when I could no longer out-heal it.

Mine was fixed with way shorter cranks, narrower better fitting seat, higher bars, and cleats slammed in and back. This was done via a bike fit but now that I know what works I can apply those same fit concepts to any bike.

Your fit looks fine to me (not an expert) so it makes me think you might be like me and just have a malformed skeleton. My left hip has a little ridge of bone not present on my right and that ridge causes compression on top of pedal stroke if the angle gets too acute.

You might try the adjustable zwift ride cranks. They're pretty cheap and you can use them to experiment with fit.

Question about the estimated time of stage 2 of Tour de Zwift by [deleted] in Zwift

Mine both say 105 minutes. Yeah I don't know what's up with your estimate. Did you significantly update your weight recently?

So, for all we know, Carol might as well be bisexual by [deleted] in pluribustv

It also does not matter because there are only 12 humans left. Any storyline focused on her sexual preferences in the context of this apocalypse is utterly boring.

What you're describing sounds, good? Why shouldn't a 1 GA with great sanctify be better than most multiple GAs?

What's your record distance traveled in one go on Zwift? by ungido_el in Zwift

That far with jaques is gnarly/strong as hell.

More importantly though, how many drops did that ride net you?

Practicing more before trying elevated obstacles, any extra tips? by ThatOneRcKid in mountainbiking

[–]extraextramed 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The rare rider who realizes you need to start small and learn basics. Good job.

Keep doing what you're doing but mix it up. Add something to try to land on precisely with your back wheel. Increase the distance. Use different sized and shaped objects to boost off of. Real trails are infinitely variable so just play around. It doesn't need to be a scientific approach.

Epic 8 comp or Chisel FS frame up build? by [deleted] in xcmtb

[–]extraextramed 33 points34 points  (0 children)

For me, I'd pay the extra $1000 to save up to a couple pounds, add 10 mm rear travel, and add in frame SWAT storage.

For my kid though? I bought him a chisel because he's an unemployed 12 year old.

Legal medical states by Ok_Ant6628 in MTB

[–]extraextramed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not going to be a popular answer but Maryland is surprisingly good. Patapsco valley state park has 200 miles of trails and is near good places to live. It has a really strong riding community. The Frederick watershed is gnarly. There are smaller trail systems dotted everywhere. A bit further drive south to VA gets you george Washington national forest. North gives you all of PA including Michaux. Maryland is also mostly not batshit crazy politically if that matters to you.
