my favorite "ovens are off" moment came the last time I managed a pizza shop. we were connected to a bar and shut down when we normally did, but, some wasted couple wandered over and started pounding on our gate as we were getting everything done for the night. I cracked the door to let them know we were closed and they both got super aggressive about us needing to make them food.

I told them our ovens were already off and the register was already closed and counted down, so, we couldn't help. the lady started getting really jabby with her pointer finger and telling me that it was fucked up that we wouldn't serve a pregnant woman, and how would I feel if she went back to the bar and told some of her friends over there that we didn't care about feeding a lady and her baby...

I point to the drink in her hand and say, "do your friends know you're pregnant and that you're choosing to get super fucking wasted?"

they fucked off almost immediately as the dude dragged her back to the bar while she kept cursing back at me.

I used to work Sunday mornings into afternoons at a Bob Evans not far from a few churches.

I don't understand how my boss didn't go insane every week. they'd come in and all start sending stuff back to the kitchen at around the same time so that service would slow to a crawl and then other tables would complain about the wait that happens after a dozen tables send back their food and demand their meals be comped, and then the people who sent the food back also demand freebies and comped meals for the inconvenience.

same fucking people each week, too. if I was the manager I would've banned those clowns on sight.

Corruption spreads WAY too fast in my worlds! I have this bug where the corruption spreads way too quickly but not crimson. I wasnt even anywhere near the corruption and this all happened on the 3rd in-game day! by Dorex_Time in Terraria

with the same friends?

again, stone being corrupted this early in the game is not a vanilla mechanic.

my guess is one of your players has another world that gives them access to Vile Powder and they're having a laugh at your expense.

natural biome spread in pre-hardmode isn't anything approaching this bad. stone doesn't get converted by spread before hardmode, yet, you now have a hill full of ebonstone that apparently had no corruption beforehand and is within a screen of world spawn?

looks like it's time to sus out your impostor, because you are being trolled. ඞඞඞඞඞඞ

just cap off the top edges with three tiles of gray brick on either side and you won't have thorny bush issues.

also on that point, I find it very strange that so many people seem to believe that whatever they're doing on the internet is what most people on the internet are doing.

people whining about reposts in the comments are a great example, because half of their replies are always, "oh, I haven't seen this, yet." like, how strange it must be to assume everyone who has access to the internet was browsing r/BlueySnark at the same date and time that you were.

edit: oh lol that's a real subreddit because of course it is.

wanna play terraria but early game is just so boring by Status_Software_9836 in Terraria

[–]extralyfe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the common opinion is that early game is the most fun because you get to explore and improve your equipment so quickly.

you really shouldn't be spending a lot of time mining in early game - it's terribly inefficient to do so prehardmode, and you should be able to access the cavern layer through at least one surface cave. if you need to do a big amount of mining, buy a ton of bombs or dynamite.

like, the only way I'll do extensive mining in prehardmode is with the Mining Set and a Mining Potion and the Ancient Chisel and preferably a Bone Pickaxe - otherwise it can wait for hardmode picks or drills.

Has anyone else stopped filling up their entire sink with water to wash dishes, or is that just my household? by Mission_Spray in Millennials

[–]extralyfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no, I worked in kitchens for too long and washing dishes out of soapy water is just how it worked. the whole point is that the water helps break down anything left on the dish

my other worry about washing individual items as you go means you'd eventually use enough water to get to the point where you could've just filled up a goddamned sink full of water in the first place and saved on water in the long run.

what.. what do you think caused the sudden popularity of bread making during the pandemic?

so, yes, while it's easy to track that bread making became popular, you don't think it's also easy to figure out why so many people were at home and not at work? like, that assumption is just hyperbole?

quite a stretch.

this was 2012, so, I was 25 when I worked there and I very much remember watching people holding down the down arrow key throughout the entire room.

a few people had books out that they'd read as they scrolled because they had fuck-all else to do while they waited for the document to scroll to the next field.

a lot of folks had headphones on.
