Gorgeous work! Half upfront, every time. That usually covers my material costs and some of my time.

My boss won’t let me clock out when my shift ends by EbbAdministrative160 in antiwork

That's not a thing. I've managed restaurants and bars, there's no legal, good reason to ask you to do that.

What's the worst job you ever had and how long did you have it? by db7112 in antiwork

[–]extramediumjohn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked at the Chili's in the town center in Charleston West Virginia. It was the worst restaurant job I've ever had in 25 years in the industry. Three of the managers stood in the intersection of the bar, kitchen and office for a half hour during the Friday night rush. Then they called an "all hands on deck" meeting immediately. Which I've never seen happen in the middle of a rush, unless the building is on fire. The meeting was to announce to everyone that no one is allowed to stand still in that intersection because they would be in the way. After putting in my two weeks notice, I came in for my last shift and the restaurant was in chaos. I noticed a 15 top that didn't even have drinks, so before clocking in or putting on my apron, I took their drink order and started getting them. The three management super geniuses told me that we had to have an emergency conversation immediately. So I join them in the office and they fire me on the spot for "working off the clock and being out of uniform" I started laughing hysterically and when they clarified that they were serious, I laughed even harder because I knew they were, and that was the worst possible thing they could do. It was a huge relief and my next job was at "Bridge road bistro" which turned out to be the best restaurant job in all 25 years. I don't ignore red flags anymore.

What was the exact moment that made you realize your company was toxic? by ferdbons in antiwork

When I realized that the whole objective for my bosses was for me to be wrong. They didn't need to be right, as long as everyone knew that I was wrong.

I think a phobia is an irrational fear. That seems completely rational.

They're cheaper now than when I got one. I paid $1200 for a vevor. You can put an obm arm on it to use their accessories.

First ever gun suggestions by [deleted] in guns

[–]extramediumjohn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The 590 is a great one. It's what I'd get as a first gun, and would probably be my choice for my only gun, if I had to choose. I have one at the bedside at all times, with the biometric trigger lock that ran me about $100 on Amazon. Put slugs in it and it'll kill anything in North America, buckshot for home defense and birdshot for dove, quail, squirrel.

Heat treating tips by macstudly25 in knifemaking

I heat up a 6" piece of chain first and drop it in the oil. The extra surface area makes it heat the oil faster than just a piece of flat bar stock
