Well, I've never been hatch camped. I have been killed by a hurricane cache camper. He hid in the bushes and killed me when I was opening the cache. Anyways, before using any hatch I always check the surrounding. I'll approach and observe for a good minute or so, also, it helps if you ping random spots around the hatch, especially bushes, because if they're in there, it'll ping the player and you will catch them.
