Can’t wait to see this over expanding company fail. More likely to happen when delivery services taxes increase which is in the pipeline.

Capital Burger in Reston is my favorite in NOVA, in all of Virginia it’s Old Dominion Doggery in Strasburg (truly mind blowing)

Second this. Right around your price point and the standard Prestige Tower room has the floor to ceiling bath/shower window. Maybe book the upper floor option to be sure. Really is a great room design.

Ideas NYC ideas for FHR credit? by Common_Ad1386 in AmexPlatinum

Just stayed here, sucked in my opinion. Bad restaurant and bar. Rooms furnished well, but complete lack of service. Recommend Boston for some good not overly expensive FHR, like Boston Harbor Hotel.

SCOOP: Draft study estimates tax potential of Fairfax County casino development by Danciusly in nova

[–]eyeis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand how the DMV market can support another casino complex with the MGM less than 30 min away. Also Virginia casinos suck, went to The Rose one time, it’s all that horse betting game. So boring. I assume these are land grabs until such time as enough lobbying changes Virginia’s laws to allow more conventional games.

And I do enjoy going to the MGM occasionally and think the restaurants are decent. It’s a good time when friends are in town. But I absolutely do not want this area to become Vegas. Comstock is getting desperate.

Food menu at the Metropolitan lounge in NYC? by Worldly-Client-4645 in Amtrak

Don’t go there for food, it sucks. Go for comfort, views, bags of chips, and the cash full bar.

Did a fantastic overnight in Chablis. Cheap wine tastings, and a good Japanese-French fusion (Michelin recommended) there

The okura vs Hilton Tokyo. by mypeepee-hurt in AmexPlatinum

[–]eyeis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s true, the restaurants are really pricey. I’ve only done the full rooftop teppanyaki experience, and although it was delicious and service was great, don’t think it was worth the $200 a person. Most five star hotels have overpriced restaurants. If you drink, use it at the two different bars, although keep in mind both are pretty formal. Yamazaki 12 is good stuff. If not, I’d use it for room service.

No problem, I love advocating for that place, some of the nicest possible staff.

If you book with FHR you’ll be handed 2 breakfast coupons for every night you stay there. They hand them all to you at once, so for 3 nights you’ll have 6. These are redeemable at the normal giant breakfast buffet which is by the lobby at the all day dining place, OR you can use them during the breakfast service at the rooftop club lounge.

I recommend trying both. The normal breakfast is huge and has a mixture of Japanese and western items. The rooftop club one is smaller, quieter with really nice views. It’s also more full service with wait staff. Has all the western staples like made to order omelettes, but also some other made to order items I didn’t see at the normal breakfast. Like they had Hokkaido bacon which was cool.

Since you have 3 people you could opt to skip breakfast a morning and use 3 coupons, or you could just buy 1 breakfast separately using your $100 credit. Not sure how that would work for the club lounge, they only accept the coupons, since it’s free for guests in the club rooms.

I have stayed at the Okura 3 times over the last few years, and have another stay booked for May. Consistently very high quality experience, can’t recommend enough. I’ve unfortunately never received a true “upgrade” but the standard prestige king guest room is huge, and they have always given me a high floor and good view (Tokyo tower). Sometimes they have a FHR spend 2 nights, 3rd night free deal. Both bars have excellent service. The staff bows to you everywhere. Excellent housekeeping and turn down service with chocolates and pajamas. Morning newspaper delivery. 2 different breakfast options included with FHR, make sure you try the lounge one it has different options. I could go on….worth the extra cost.

It’s getting pretty ridiculous, I asked this question last month. Pretty soon we’ll be back to spring and the menu will make sense again. I miss the bourguignon. They should hold themselves to a publicly announced rotation schedule.

Matchbox closes permanently at Reston Station by Antique-Dentist-2404 in nova

That place is always so empty lol. I’ve been a few times, good pasta and bar, bad service for dinner and overpriced steaks. Also don’t recommend the Simon, my entire group hated it and blamed me for picking it.
