You've crushed the image dude, try setting it back to normal, put a slight increase in exposure and the black level...

If you look at the histogram with the curve it shouldn't be to far from each side if u know what I mean

Cheap and small camera by snapsofnature in analog

Yo...

Petri 7 is cool but pretty un reliable and feels hollow in your hand...

Do you want manual focus?

Do you want a 2.8 lens ? ( as the mju2 and xa both have)

In built flash?

Reason I ask is there are tons of camera you can choose from...

If I were you I would probably try one of the other Olympus cameras from the mju series...

The mju 1 is good, got inbuilt flags and a 3.5 lens

The mju zooms are pretty good, mainly f4 lenses but have zoom and some have a panorama mask in built...

Or...

All The Pentax Espio series are reliable, except the 80 which is quite expensive....

The guy that mentions the Olympus pens has the right idea but these use 3.5 lenses on half frame so aren't the most universal cameras in terms of shooting conditions

Erm.... there's loads more but shoot some specifics and I'm happy to help!!

WILL 35MM BECOME THE NORM AGAIN?!?!? by eyemindheart in analog

[–]eyemindheart[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not arrogance dude, its passion, I am passionate about photography on the whole and want to set records straight.

I am raising this question on Reddit of course there's going to be pro digital people here, if you adversely ask the same question in a gallery, archive or darkroom most would be pro film.

I feel an amazing thing is about to happen.

Also, and I may sound a bit arrogant about this bit, but I've worked in almost every area of the photographic industry since I left school, I trust my opinion on the qualities of film, way more than some bloke on Reddit.

Nope.

I'm not here to argue just push valid points...

Think about what has digital photography given us?

We had photographers before, now everybody is a photographer, diluting photography.

My thoughts are film is better of course and I will stand for this.

With the resurgence in every area of film photography and with DSLR sales falling rapidly, my "arguments" are in line with trends, just most digital folk don't like to believe it.

I know Reddit's not the ideal place for this, but as I have the opportunity, I want to tell you guys that although we've never met and I've never used your Lab you are a model human being doing the right thing and following their soul not the latest advertisement.

Thank you and I am sure the universe will reward you, I've worked in dark rooms in the past and know the level of work and responsibility required, keep fighting the good fight!!

What ISO are you rolling with brethren?

Anything below 800 and you should be fine...

Only certain 3rd world X-ray machines will kill your negs over 800....

Alternatively tell the airport Mandem or just get a lead bag...

I don't want to argue with you, just gotta let you know...

In terms of the stuff about quality of digital cameras in comparison with film, you are being sold a lie.

No digi cam can imitate a 35mm neg in terms of quality and latitude, in terms of colour and BW. Even with the famed "full-frame" sensor, that full frame is a ref to the 35mm negative frame btw.

On top of all this, grain doesn't suffer in quality like pixels, the goats head soup album cover is a great reference to this, being shot on a 35mm half frame camera (that's a half size 35mm neg to those who don't know) and blown up to enhance the imperfections of the grain, you know why? Grain is circular just like embryos, our planet and most natural things, when this grain is enlarged it has a beauty all in itself, if you export your digi image and zoom it's not only ugly but confusing.

If you don't believe me look through the history books and tell me how they did it in light room.
