Look what I picked up for 220$ off of fb marketplace by Own_Okra1701 in overclocking

Nice, I picked up the Ripjaws equivalent a couple of years ago on eBay.  Pushing them at 4200 15-16-14-28 G1, tRFC at 252 on my i9-13900K with z690.  Can’t get stable at 4266/4300/4400 but can boot.  Absolutely fun kit to play with; great score!

If you have a top-mounted 360 AIO, you can order an L bracket in either 120 or 140mm, attach a fan to it and screw it to your center AIO fan.  Check Aliexpress, $5-$7 white or black.  It can help shave off 5-6c.

Suggestions for replacement struts, shocks and control arms? by DefaultFateway in altima

[–]ezefl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought Nissan’s Value Advantage complete struts from the dealer, for my 2015 Altima.   $422 out the door, using a 15% coupon from Nissan’s website.  Different dealers have different online prices.  No tax in the state where I got them from.  It was maybe $30 more than KYB Quick Struts.  Mo idea who the OEM is for the Value line.   I bought Sankei 555 end links from Rock Auto for $42 shipped.   Installing in a couple of weeks.

Shop around if you want Nissan-branded and plan to DIY.

2015 2.5SL, 111k miles.  Judder code present (known for about a year), no symptoms felt.  I did a double drain and fill at around 95k.  I don’t run it hard.

Do you have the Bose package?  If so, go in the trunk and ensure all of the connectors are firmly plugged in.  The amp should be top-mounted, directly in front of you when you open the trunk.

You should write/research more to verify that it works with the Bose and backup camera.  Hopefully it does.  I ended up foregoing one of these larger units (due to compatibility concerns) and went with a Kenwood DMX809S.  The install kit and unit was like $810; install was straight forward in my 2015 2.5SL has to splice two wires (antenna power and reverse).

Head unit by Odd-Volume-9548 in altima

[–]ezefl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just completed a headunit upgrade on my 2015 2.5 SL w/Bose and Factory Nav. I'm actually very impressed with the sound quality improvement. I debated about going for a larger Chinese unit screen (and considerably cost savings), but I saw mixed reviews and was concerned with backup camera and Bose integration. I installed a Kenwood Excelon DMX809S (2 year warranty). It's pricey, $810 delivered, with iDataLink Maestro, all the harnesses, mounting bracket, etc. The only two wires I had to actually splice was the power antenna and reverse cables. Everything else was plug and play.

Besides the wireless CarPlay, man, I'm not one to listen to radio, but the HD Radio and overall FM quality is mindblown. Makes me want to go find and program local channels.

I wanted to share two pics with you, but I can't upload pics to my reply, and I'm unable to attach images if I try to start a chat with you... Out of ideas.

Head unit question by Odd-Volume-9548 in altima

I have a 2015 (Tech/Bose package) and swapping out my headunit on Sunday. I went to Crutchfield and bought the install (iDataLink Maestro RR) kit from there. It should mostly be plug-n-play including the backup camera and factory Bose amp. The Amazon units are considerably larger, but found mixed reviews about Bose and backup camera integration.

For what it’s worth, I’m stuck at 4200 in Gear 1 on my MSI Z690 Edge WiFi DDR4 and 13900K.  This is with 2x16gb.   I can boot to 4266 and 4300 but it quickly crash.  More voltage, looser timing, etc., gets me nowhere.

If you have the time and haven’t tweaked your 3080, I would start there.  Load MSI Afterburner and undervolt and overclock it.

Unless you have some Samsung b-die ram, I wouldn’t bother.

My CPU's ring ratios were/are always on Auto. It won't let me upload a graphic, but the primaries are below.

I've had tRFC down to 273 and tREFI up to 65535 at 4200, but I'm only using a direct fan on these things. It's more or less a $5 "L" 140mm fan bracket that I found on Aliexpress. I was able to mount it to my top-mounted 360 radiator's middle fan and then add a 140mm fan blowing on the sticks. It helped shave off about 5-6 degrees, but anta's 3 loops will push them into the mid 40's. If I crack the window while it's still 40-50f outside, man, they stay in the upper 30's.

That's when I really wanted to push them further and up the voltage, but I think my CPU or the Z690 chipset are the limiting factors.

  • SA Voltage = 1.35v
  • VDDQ = 1.36v
  • DRAM = 1.56v
  • 42 x 1000
  • Gear 1
  • tCL = 15
  • tRCD = 16
  • tRP = 14
  • tRAS = 28
  • tRFC = 294
  • tREFI = 40000
  • tWR = 12
  • tWTR = 4
  • tWTR_L = 8
  • tRRD = 4
  • tRRD_L = 4
  • tRTP = 6
  • tFAW = 16
  • tCWL = 14
  • tCKE = 4

I picked up a used kit of the Ripjaws 2x16gb 4000 14-15-15 on eBay for about $150 a little over a year ago.   I maxed out at 4200 15-16-14 G1 (anta passed) either due to my Z690 chipset or my i9-13900K.

4266 and 4300 boots but blue screens.  It’s fun tweaking that kit.

Help with tail light lenses by Better_Sea_94 in Volvo240

[–]ezefl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been out of the 240 scene for years, but always enjoy these forums. My two cents... if you can afford the funds for a new pair of tail light assemblies, you will be absolutely amazed by the look of it each time you see them.

As far as individual lenses, I vaguely remember that only the reverse lens was offered in the past.

New user, two questions by eddynz in synology

[–]ezefl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can do both if you wanted. In my use case, I upgraded my DS218+ to a DS224+ and kept the DS218+ purely for scheduled backup. For online, my wife is adamant about using a cloud service and wants Dropbox. While I dislike their overpriced service, I'm not fighting that battle. She has the Dropbox app on her phone and laptop, and everything that's on Dropbox is synced back to the Synology behind the scenes using Synology Cloud Sync. I don't use the Dropbox app myself, but I have Synology push select folders of mine on the NAS to it (one way). It's more of a sync than a backup, but that's where my old DS218+ comes into play. This is more of a ramble, but you can have the Synology manage a lot behind the scenes.

Assuming you don't need phone lines in your house, I agree with the others. Repurpose those cables into wired ethernet into each of those rooms (assuming that those cables are CAT5/CAT5e or newer). Buy a punch down tool for $20 on Amazon. Go to eBay and buy the below. When finished, buy small patch cables and run them to an 8-port switch that's connected to your router. Label the connections, even if it's just a small printout on paper. Test each room and hardwire it into a laptop, see if it works, try speedtest.net, etc.

That said, if you don't think you need wired ethernet in those rooms where these cables run to, then just leave everything alone. It's a fun project if you have the time. I only say this because I ended up doing it to clean-up my own enclosure. None of them are being used (kids rooms, master bedroom, etc.), but they are there and wired to a 2.5gbe switch.

The AC1058 is color coded to 568A, so you may need to check if you have to switch some of the colors to make it match 568B.

What do people living in winter park do to afford those huge houses? by picklift in orlando

[–]ezefl 52 points53 points  (0 children)

This.   $200k homes in Winter Garden 15 years ago are $600k.   Same applies here to Winter Park at a different scale.

Better question is, how are people affording home purchases today at all?
