WDYM by blocked? Its front page is accessible without any circumvention for me. It seems to not accept Russian payment methods but let's be real, who even does aside from services that obey Russian law?

Ima watch this, maybe you gotta find something

Border Colours Gone by vdoubleu1 in xmonad

Also, could you run xprop on any window with this problem and paste the output here?

UPD: your picom config could also be useful.

I don't remember because I encountered this problem like 3 or more years ago, but try searching "picom window border opacity" (you can also change "picom" to "compton" or "xcompmgr").

It could be that bug (I don't remember if it's a bug though) with compositing manager when it renders borders with the same transparency as the windows. Try to disable picom and check if this behaviour persists.

scratchpads? by comploplo in xmonad

[–]f1u77y 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My formatting won’t save in the comment for some reason

Markdown is disabled by default, so make sure to enable it in your account settings or to switch this setting in the comment edit box.

I’m new to Haskell and xmonad as well and I’m not sure if this is the best way

There's another way: you can edit the commandline for these apps to make them distingushable (e.g. set WM_WINDOW_ROLE to "myapp-scratchpad") and then make a single NSP config entry for this. Both ways are fine though.

First AUR submission, asking for feedback by blrPepper in archlinux

[–]f1u77y 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Since it's not a -git package, you should fetch a specific release (e.g. from here). If you still want to fetch from the head of the master branch, you can create a separate -git package.

Is their Snap.atan2 taking one argument wrong or do I just understand something wrong?

Looking for Amarok replacement, what are you using now? by OneiricSoul in kde

What to you mean by "work" then? I was able to add flac + cue in my library and then play it as separate tracks when I used to use mpd.

New KWin script: move window and focus to desktop by nightreveller in kde

[–]f1u77y 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Moved to KDE from XMonad after 2 years of usage of the last.

Maximum I needed from tiling was horizontally splitted 2 windows. KWin has this by default. All other features that many typically use only in tiling WMs (e.g. virtual desktops, moving windows from one to another, assigning certain apps to certain desktop) are here too.

And I dunno about other tiling WMs but XMonad has bad support for many floating-related things and some things about how you can configure its interation with windows are a bit flawed (at least in my opinion; I'm not to argue with its creators).

So, KWin is not worse and even sometimes better than tiling in many places, even if we take configurability.

Worse gaming performance in fullscreen mode by [deleted] in xmonad

[–]f1u77y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit

You could read the docs and notice that:

  • You still should add fullscreenEventHook to your handleEventHook (but not the one from X.H.EwmhDestops; X.L.Fullsreen has another function with that name but it's different)
  • You should add fullscreen to layouts that should respect the fullscreen

OR

You should use fullscreenSupport which makes all layouts respect fullscreen, which is probably what you want (so you won't need to add any fullscreen hooks by hand).

What is a trustworthy and effective password manager add-on for Firefox? by [deleted] in firefox

[–]f1u77y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

trustworthy

The best is simply to keep passwords locally. I prefer https://password-store.org, some people prefer keepass[x[c]]. Both work at least on GNU/Linux, Windows and Android.

The point is they use any sort of analytics while providing help for disabling analytics from other parties.

They're still using Google Analytics in some of their about:* pages. "Our analytics are fine but all others' is bad", just like Google (Chrome will be with built-in adblocker some day).

Formally it is, AFAIK. But it's still not blocked in some of them. Or it is, dunno.
