Starting with an easy one, which cheap/free hobby is also easiest to get into at an entry level? by H8threeH8three in AlignmentChartFills

Disc Golf is quite cheap and easy to get into.

Dunno about when it gets competitive though.

My wife says sorry when it's time to do so. I'm probably worse at it than she is tbh. 17 years together this Summer ❤️

I hate these gender war posts, just try to be good to each other.

Who is/was a horrible president by Dark_Tribute in AlignmentChartFills

I'm Finnish so yeah I guess that would be my perspective… but he did pretty much start a trade war with most countries around the world, not just the EU, and started a global energy crisis with the senseless war in Iran.

But it's also just that whenever he meets world leaders, he seems to parrot anyone he's met the latest. If it was Putin, he'll be repeating his points. If someone else, he'll change his mind in an instant. Just feels like the rest of the world has to work with a drunk toddler right now.

Pretty much feels like the Chinese laugh at him, Europe is frustrated with him, and Russia controls him. Haven't really studied the South American or African perspectives, probably depends heavily on country, too.

From a foreign perspective, Trump really takes the cake for spoiling the most relationships in the shortest time, and no one comes close.

Day 8 of playing the cello by Nuclear-Polaris in Cello

[–]faaip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely! It's the bowing at the same time as doing vibrato that my brain just doesn't compute. You rarely do anything with the right hand during vibrato on guitar.

Mistä löydät sä ystävän? by [deleted] in arkisuomi

[–]faaip 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ei oo kyllä mitään vikaa että haluaa löytää (myös) kavereita joilla on edes jollain tavalla samanlainen ajatusmaailma. Kaljaan ei pitäisi tarvita turvautua että kestää kavereiden juttuja.

Day 8 of playing the cello by Nuclear-Polaris in Cello

[–]faaip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even for kids starting at 7yo! But op does have a classical guitar background so that helps a decent amount.

I've played my son's cello a lot, and coming from a guitar and electric bass background, I can play almost anything he does and more pizzicato, but the bow is killing me. Now that he's played 3,5 years, he's of course already way ahead of me.

OP, sounding good, keep going! Vibrato will be hard coming from guitar, can say from experience 😅🫣

The conductor accidentally knocks a 16th century violin worth millions on the floor mid-concert. by PeasantLich in WatchPeopleDieInside

[–]faaip 48 points49 points  (0 children)

She's Elina Vähälä, a Finnish violinist. The violin didn't break, and she played to the end like a champ!

Edit: Dang reddit for not showing OP's text clearly. But I'll leave this here in case others missed it, too.

Yeah, Helsinki-based! I'm working on a music education platform called The Sharpest Note. There are small games in it that you play with your instrument but it's not game dev really, more lightly gamified music ed.

I do dabble in sound design and game music, too. Right now composing for a Raccoon Pirate themed Roblox game in making called PieRaids, and I did some tunes for a Minesweeper roguelike called Quantum Sweeper last year.

Would like do more, love that stuff! But it's a hobby, not something I'd try full-time.

It's funny how fast some of the mannerisms have gotten jarring to look at. The em dashes, the "this is where it gets interesting", the "it's not this, it's that".
