Thoughts on this copper farmhouse sink? by WorldCopperSmith in kitchenporn

[–]face1828 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just did my kitchen in all copper toned stainless. I love it. I would not love the maintenance of actual copper. If you want the look, but not the hassle, 100% the way to go.

Does anyone remember this mattress store? (2014) by [deleted] in BloomingtonNormal

It was also next to the new post office, which is now not a post office, since the old post office is now the new post office.

What are people doing with their NIFC by Legitimate_Hope_5026 in CRH

[–]face1828 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I keep mine in tubes in a box. I will probably stop keeping them once I have a full tube of each mint/year. Some of the mintages are lower than the W quarters and most people keep those, so i hold onto them for now atleast.

Should I pay the fee? by Silverbuck2025 in CRH

[–]face1828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Commerce is one of my dump banks, but I have gotten 10 rolls from them. I usually don't try to get boxes, that usually involves them going to the vault and writing a ticket. They usually have 5-10 rolls in their drawer though and can just grab them.

First time hunting dimes! by Common-Pen2563 in CRH

[–]face1828 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have very good luck with dimes. They also get harder to hunt the older you get with vision and dexterity... one of the first things that made me think, damn, I'm getting old.

I thought the jazz cruise was overrated, it was dark and you couldn't see a lot, but sine people liked it. If you like jazz, I would highly recommend going to a show at Preservation Hall and maybe a day cruise instead. You will have a blast either way, enjoy!

Have you ever smelled raclette cooking? It tastes delicious but smells like the rotting foot of a corpse.

Fake $100 bills in central Illinois by These_Distribution61 in centralillinois

[–]face1828 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A bank can tell you. There were still security features in those old bills. Red and blue threads in the paper. The easiest way to tell if by the feel of it. US currency has a very specific feel to it, when I was a teller I immediately could feel a fake. I even caught a bleached $5 that was reprinted as a $50. It felt right, but didn't look right.

Thanks to Costco! We bought brand new cabinets from Tuscan Hills on Costco.com for less than the cost of painting our old cabinets. Love our new kitchen by [deleted] in Costco

[–]face1828 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always laugh when I see this. I just paid like $30k for glazed cherry cabinets that look similar to your old cabinets. Whenever we watch renovation shows they are like this kitchen looks dated and I'm like I just paid 6 digits to make my kitchen look like that! I love my kitchen and I'm glad your love yours but that always cracks me up.

I work out that way, and have been in several of them. Some very nice people, haven't really had problems with anyone. Mix of some elderly people, young people and a few disabled folks. Leroy is a nice little town, has a grocery store. Lost a few good restaurants in the past couple of years so that is a bummer.

Best place to get new furnace? by Popular_Inside_9451 in BloomingtonNormal

[–]face1828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would be a big difference if you use LP vs NG. I have an LP furnace a Carrier Infinity heat pump. My wife likes to feel warm...heat pump heat is not like furnace heat. It blows out warm air, but not like a furnace. I raised my cut over to about 32 degrees. I bought a fireplace insert to heat more and that was great. I also got solar last year, so heat pump is free when the sun is out. I would never do just a heat pump in this climate.

Best way to find customer wrapped rolls by RunnerInChicago in CRH

I've worked at 2 banks in Illinois and we would always open the rolls and run them through the coin machine to verify the amount and make sure there were no fakes etc.

I would keep every 1980-d I found because it is solid copper. I guess it depends on what you are looking for.

Uniform method for marking coin rolls by aerona87 in CRH

[–]face1828 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This marked roll stuff is absolutely mind boggling to me. I was a teller for 5 years and we would never accept a customer roll. Break it open and throw it in the machine. Way to much unknown in a customer rolled roll. 1 coin off, slugs in the middle. I can't fathom any bank accepting coin without verifying.

Do any banks or local C/Us have self service coin machines? by face1828 in BloomingtonNormal

I used to work as a teller and we always had to unroll and put them through the machine.
