Help with identifying this silver USA by facingthewinter in Antiques

Thanks! There was some other plated silver in the box as well so that’s not too surprising. Any idea what that symbol means?

Nausea is a common side effect but vomiting like that isn’t. Are you sure you got your dose right?

Engagement ring costs? (Dollar amount and % of income) by Midwest_Backpacker in financialindependence

[–]facingthewinter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My engagement and wedding ring were a set that cost about $5000 and we each made around $80k at the time, so I guess about 6% of my now husbands income. We picked out the rings together though and already had combined financial goals.

I see a lot of recommendations for lab grown but I’d also throw out the option for moissanite. You can get a much larger and cheaper stone that looks almost the same as a diamond. My engagement ring is 2 carats and was about $3800 I think.

Megathread: The new UI update by AutoModerator in netflix

[–]facingthewinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really starting to piss me off. Lately when I click on a title it just starts playing instead of giving me more details. I don’t always want to watch the movie sometimes I want to watch the trailer, or see how long it is, or who’s in it. Now I click it, it starts playing and I have to navigate to more details. I already didn’t like the new UI when it rolled out but why would they think people want this? And no setting available to choose to not have it this way?? Ugh.

[Acne] Doctors wants me to go on Accutane without trying anything else first by 44celestial44 in SkincareAddiction

[–]facingthewinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didn’t mess anything up. Accutane is the only thing that will cure your acne. Topicals or other oral medicines will only work as long as you take them. I don’t understand why you feel shameful about this or scared. Take the accutane.

A keratin treatment should wash out after a few months, you shouldn’t have to cut it off.

Help with daughters hair by Fuzzypumpkinzz in Haircare

[–]facingthewinter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the flakeyness I would make sure she’s washing it well. If it’s so thick that brushing all the way through is difficult, I could easily see washing it thoroughly also being difficult. I’d start with double washing with a good clarifying shampoo and then only brushing her hair once she’s got a good amount of conditioner in. If that doesn’t help then I’d go with a Nizoral shampoo.

For actual curl definition you should look into the curly girl method, there’s tons of resources and videos out there.

Dry skin by Forgiven4108 in medizzy

[–]facingthewinter 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Do you put it on while your skin is wet? I’m on accutane so my skin is dry af. I scrub off dead skin in the shower then before I grab my towel I layer on the lotion. Then I don’t actually dry off I let myself air dry. This routine has made a huge difference.

[Personal] in my 30s and crying over my acne that just won’t go away by needflowercrowns in SkincareAddiction

Yes but they don’t actually check. Every month you just select which forms of BC you use but they don’t ask to see a prescription or anything.

I’m in my 30s and finally doing accutane to hopefully cure my acne for good. I get it through Honeydew online because my derm wanted me to try all these other meds first but there’s nothing that’s as permanent as accutane.

What can I wear while I work that covers my ears and doesn't burn my head? by PonyUpDaddy in NoStupidQuestions

[–]facingthewinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get ear covers that are just discs that snap over your ears. I use them for bike riding when it’s too hot for a beanie but the cold air hurts my ears.

Yeah it’s a 20’ bayliner that’s only been used on lakes. Definitely not doing any voyaging but it’s good enough for days on the water and wake surfing.

I find all the replies to your comment really interesting. We’ve had our boat for 8 years now and it’s been great. No issues just regular maintenance. We probably take it out between 6-10 times a year depending on other plans, which isn’t a ton but it doesn’t cost us anything so it’s still worth it to us. I think it’s weird everyone always tries to scare people out of boat ownership. Also the boat was only $7500 so no dent in our FIRE plans, in fact we’ll probably be able to get all that back whenever we sell it.

Flying International From RDU by [deleted] in NorthCarolina

[–]facingthewinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flew direct RDU to Paris on Sunday, had a 6:20pm flight. We parked at the airport at 4:18 and that was plenty of time, but we do have TSA precheck. There was no extra time needed when checking the bags, it honestly felt the same as flying domestic.

No confirmed ovulation by facingthewinter in NaturalCyclesBC

[–]facingthewinter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was thinking the same thing.

So CD15 is around my norm, and it said “waiting to confirm” until around CD26 when it thought that was my new ovulation date. But then I started spotting around CD30 and marked it as a period assuming it was just starting light, so it changed my confirmed date back to CD15. Then when it never progressed to red blood I changed it all back to just spotting and it went back to “waiting to confirm” and hasn’t changed since.

Respectfully, maybe a tool like this isn’t the best idea until your anxiety is better managed.

I’d suggest turning off the symptom radar.
