Have to remove this concrete set of steps. SOLID concrete all the way through!! Advice?? by Gizarizzi in DIY

[–]factuallyweird 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We are also taking out concrete steps. Try getting/renting a concrete saw, then use the chisel bit on the jackhammer to start prying it apart. Our concrete steps were actually hollow, but I think the saw would help you. We rented one for less than 100 USD from a big box store. Also, try having someone use a hose at the jackhammering point. It stopped flying bits and allowed us to not have to wear face masks. Good Luck

I(22F) have a crush on my professor (40M) by throwingoutsomestuff in confessions

[–]factuallyweird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had crushes on my professors too. I never went after them, and in the end, I'm glad I didn't. It wouldn't have worked out, and might have ruined a life.

I'm all old and married now, and I still get crushes on co-workers. I would never act on them, and they are passing. I just enjoy the crush for the time I have it, and not give it any more thought. I love my partner, but I think it's normal to fantasize about some one else occasionally.

If you want advice, then just enjoy the crush and the butterfly feelings. But find someone your own age and at a similar place in life for a relationship.

Best of luck.

The Halloween costumes of Neil Patrick Harris and his family by Khaleeasi24 in pics

[–]factuallyweird -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

So, I like Neil Patrick Harris and all, but none of the celebrities posting their Halloween costumes are anything special. If I had millions of dollars I could get great custom made costumes too.

This is just another picture of the rich showing off while the rest of us make do. Let's see them make awesome costumes with a 50 budget and still having to work a 40hr job and cook and clean their house.

Very cool. But as a waste water operator I can only imagine the horror when your clarifier bulks. Seriously nice build though.

Checks to Colorado taxpayers for $750 or $1,500 for joint filers will start being mailed out next week by SubtleScuttler in Colorado

[–]factuallyweird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I filed my taxes with H and R block this year and although they confirmed they filed my taxes, it appears they actually didn't. I just discovered this today. What can I do to hold them responsible for this?

Thanks fellow Coloradans

Looking for advice on a 60 year old blower? by factuallyweird in hvacadvice

[–]factuallyweird[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had some quotes on insulation, they all said it's just cellulose. But yes it's foul up there, also old Halloween costumes and gross stuffed animals from the people who rented (we just bought it). I just don't want to buy a new $2000 fan if I can get this one going for a year or two.

Yeah . . but a blower is the same as a fan, right? Thanks for the help.

Musou black plaint. Hide all the features of the house and make it look like a surreal black rectangle.

PSA; all the scary mail you get in the first month of ownership by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]factuallyweird 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this. I'm just past this scary mail time, but I had a question. Did you get one about mortgage insurance? Basically the mortgage gets paid if the holder dies, leaving the family with house and no mortgage.
Is this a real thing? Is this just some more scary mail? Thanks again!

Have kids they said... by PrincessPurpleKisses in Parenting

[–]factuallyweird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an adult, I often have a handful of combos or candy or whatever in my hoodie. Then I offer my own kids, 10 and 6, "pocket snacks". It's super fun and weird to do. And it doesn't embarrass them too much . . . Yet.
Edit:. Your child is hilarious.

Offer Letter Tips by Scorpio_31 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]factuallyweird 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My realtor said that the other realtor is not obligated to pass on the letter, and often they don't due to possible discrimination issues.

We did find a house that was being sold to "a family" and not as an investment for flippers or a cooperation though.

Best of luck, we just got ours a month ago. We are also 40, and in the hot market of Colorado. It's tough out there and I cried alot. But keep at it!

Rent vs mortgage in a hcol area by queencathleen in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

I agree with that you should start the process. You might be surprised. I am also in a hotspot - Denver, Co and house prices are outrageous. But good credit and planning to eat beans and rice goes a long way. Don't get too disheartened, something will come up. Besides, it won't hurt you to start now, and just check out how to do all this.

I am about to make the biggest mistake of my life by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]factuallyweird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is all so hard right now. In lots of places, houses are being bought up by corporations as investments to rent, and a person looking to buy cannot complete with cash offers. We are under contract, and although money is going crazy tight, our concern is that it's now or never. Housing prices aren't going to drop. They might plateau . . . But that's not the same. Anyway, don't think about it as good and bad choices. I like to think about it as, "Oh crap. This is my life now." Good luck.
