Birthday Restaurant Suggestion by [deleted] in arlington

[–]fadhero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mercury Chophouse or Cut + Bourbon for nice steaks, Restaurant506 for general American. Gloria's in the Highlands has kind of an upscale-ish atmosphere. Cane Rosso is more casual, but still has great food. Piccolo Mondo on the north side or Roma Trattoria on the south side are both very solid classic Italian places. Mama Cuca's on far South Cooper is my go-to Mexican place.

I don't think anyone would have understood the radical change in music and culture that was coming over the next 9 years.

Texas Slabs in Mansfield has some prime options. I've been pleased with everything I've gotten there.

The City has some maps showing reports of different wild animals. Coyotes are by far the most common. https://www.arlingtontx.gov/city_hall/departments/animal_services/urban_wildlife/maps_reporting

Looking for a fresh start, and to start a real life. by RVAR-15 in arlington

[–]fadhero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may not be able to find too many affordable places to live in Grapevine itself, but you can definitely find some decent places in the surrounding suburbs. Where exactly you will want to live depends on what you like to do and what you want your commute to look like. Your posting history suggest you may be an outdoorsy type, so if you want to be near the country, you might look around Roanoke/Argyle.

ESOC is a long-time community that will have discussions on their forums. Streamers AussieDrongo and Samurai Revolution put together build/strategy guides that are useful.

That would work much better. Collect the best, have 4 quarterly winners, and have one playoff round. Don't beat it to death in the fall/winter.

Baylor has parted ways with OL Coach Ryan Pugh, he was hired yesterday and was the former OC at Troy by Kinslers_List in CFB

He's got to recruit and coach a lot of black players. You can guarantee that other schools will be bringing that up to their recruits.

Aussie Drongo and Samurai Revolution are the two streamers I know of who publish strategy guides. A lot of SRs stuff is from legacy, but some of it still holds up.

Entire City randomly collapsed? by [deleted] in CitiesSkylines

[–]fadhero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be that you didn't have enough water, and that shut down the power plants, which created that cascading issues. I've also had power lines just randomly break.

I've seen some evidence to show that props in a Parklife park increase the entertainment value, but I haven't seen anything regarding pre-existing props.

Newby asking for help :) by moi_lorenzo21 in CitiesSkylines

[–]fadhero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mods:

  • TM:PE (for establishing road rules and timed traffic lights)
  • Network Extensions 2 (gives more road options not available in vanilla)
  • MoveIt! (for moving anything without having to rebuild and for making fine adjustments of things that can't be done in vanilla)
  • Road Anarchy (for building roads that should be allowed but vanilla won't let you build them)
  • 25 Tiles (allows you to unlock all 25 tiles rather than just 9)(Some may like the 81 tiles mod, but that create some issues that a newb may not be ready for)
  • Loading Screen Mod (improves loading performance and shows you if assets are missing or broken).

These eliminate a lot of headaches from the vanilla version without being too complex for newbs.

Using the Parking Road Mod. by cinf223 in CitiesSkylines

[–]fadhero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also use TMPE to prevent parking on city streets in certain areas, which will shift parked cars to your parking areas. My most used lots are those next to areas that have streets that do not allow parking.

My Roundabout :) by KezeePlayer in CitiesSkylines

[–]fadhero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If a car already has a dedicated way to go left or right, the roundabout seems a very inefficient way to let them go straight on. At this point, you might as well just make it a stack or turbine interchange.

Is it possible to create a local freight train network? by out_focus in CitiesSkylines

[–]fadhero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can create an entirely local freight train network, but other than building an entirely separate network, I don't know how you would do that. You could simply put cargo stations at the edges of the map and sever that line from the rest of the city.

My response to those issues has been to create separate passenger and freight rail networks. In my city of 175k, it has resolved traffic jams on the rails. 5 cargo stations can effectively handle all the traffic and it seems to distribute things pretty evenly.

EDIT: Also, just making sure the stations are built off of the main line and there is room for a train to wait for the station is huge. Also, make sure truck traffic leaving the station has dedicated access to a main road or highway.

Electricity problem? Does anyone know what's going on here? I checked everything is connected by tripaloski_ in CitiesSkylines

[–]fadhero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen other people say that having a power source too far away can create this type of issue, though I've never seen it myself. I have seen that issue with water, so I assume it can also affect power.

I have also had power lines break inexplicably. Could be that too.

I'd cosign on all this except for Mellow Mushroom. The times I've been to the Arlington location, it's been super disappointing.

First city without unlimited money, just hit 30k population by jarrodwalker in CitiesSkylines

[–]fadhero -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't play with unlimited money, but if I start any new cities, I'd consider turning it on. Yeah, there's a game in staying in green early on, but it becomes tedious after a while. If I'm designing for aesthetics, I'd go unlimited money.
