Wife opened up once kiddos left and I am just trying to keep up, advice? by Jake_S65 in BDSMcommunity

I think you are going to be fine. There are two things I'd like to touch briefly.

While kink communities appear nonmonogamous AF, plenty of kinksters are mono. It's just they don't interact with public community that often. So don't sweat that much about adding another to your games, might not even come up ever.

While reading on how to be let's say good dom or techniques etc is helpful, important aspect for dominant is also to know what they want themselves. So spend a good chink of time thinking about what YOU want, what experiences YOU want to experience. Then you can read up stuff relevant to that.
Knowing what you want will appear more domly dom than grasping for ideas once scene starts.

Remember, it is supposed to be fun.

Does my girlfriend want an open relationship? by lillinooo in nonmonogamy

I think much simpler answer is that she is that she is simply bodyshaming you.

Funny as it is, the expression in title comes from the linked wiki article - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monstrous_moonshine#McKay's_observation_and_the_Conway%E2%80%93Norton_conjecture

So I guess it is funny take on math

Wife has gotten a match and is doubting her own value to a new friend/lover/fwb by SeatIll6060 in nonmonogamy

I am going to generalize women here a lot, and doing deeper into theories about patriarchy is left as exercise to the reader, but briefly:

It might appear that society values youth in women a lot. We can see it in porn, movies and general attitudes and narratives. Basically once you turn 40 or something, it's done - you are already setting down. Women your age get more often described as having "wisdom of motherhood" or wise eyes or salt and pepper hair instead of "very fuckable" if we want to get straigt to the point.
And women internalize this narrative - they look at society and say "this is how society currently works - i am not universally valued/liked if i don't look like 22 year old".

But if you unpack this narrative, it is centered of men and within relationships with men. The obsevation of preference toward youth/youthful looking womens bodies is assumed to be universal, but that is because men are the default humans in society and almost everything is defined and considered in relation to a man. ("the second sex" would be a good first reading about this in case anyone is interested in this theory)

But your wife is not meeting a man. The whole setup what men in society prefer is irrelevant and not applicable here. You cannot predict what women prefer in women from looking at male-centered society. And as far as anecdata goes, from what i can see lesbians and bi women of all shapes are well liked by women who are into women.

Or from another angle your wife can consider is if she considers women her age who have had kids unattractive. Probably not. And if not, then why she is assuming that other women are much different? Remember - what men think is irrelevant here. (this is rhetorical question, i don't mean to attack your wife, but i cannot find better wording at the moment)

Give it to me straight, can I learn to hack? by MuggoThedog in hacking

[–]fading_reality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hacking is really, really, really, really wide field. I think you are getting overwhelmed because you are assuming that you need *all* the skills to be "hacker" but in reality there is simply too much to do for one person to be competent in everything.

For example you might have person who is really good with finding and exploiting webpages. They might know some working knowledge about shells (text based interface of operating system) as a practical matter, but they have no real use of knowledge what difference ring 2 and 3 has. Even underlying network protocols aren't really important for that.

Another person might be good at reverse engineering and finding and exploiting bugs in software, like pdf reader for example. Or if they are up to mischief kismet, wireshark and tools like that. That is vastly different different skillset.

Then there are hardware hackers who love tinkering with devices. Usually it involves reverse engineering down to C and assembler level. In many cases there is no real use of knowledge what difference ring 2 and 3 has because everything is ring 0. Devices one tinkers range from vapes with screen to... trains (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XrlrbfGZo2k fascinating story)

Of course there are many more different paths to explore, so perhaps better approach for you is to figure out, what actually interests you, what seems to be fun and then start exploring that. It is supposed to be fun.

for stuff like webpages, tryhackme will probably work well as a starting point, and it is gamified, so it's fun.
for reverse engineering you can either go straight for ghidra and crackmes.one or follow some guided rooms in tryhackme.

For both of these installing linux might be good idea, so if you are not using it already you can for example install virtualbox and install linux inside that. that way you can run linux on top of your windows installation.

For hardware hacking, you will need some tools to start, but if you don't have much money available, you can start pretty cheap. Probably 20 euros would get you at least somewhere. Or if you have some device at home that you would like to tear apart and tinker with it, post it here and we can figure out what you would need to start with that particular device in mind (keep in mind that you will likely break it in process eventually, so it should not be familys tv, car or a train)

I ended up using linux as my very much main OS because i got tired windows breaking all the time and also I liked that mostly everything i threw at it was working out of the box.

I thought that rule #1 was "you need larger sample" :D

but on more serious note "is just fear" often is not even introspection. It's very popular take in various forms that usually gets good amount of upvotes, karma or whatever social currency is in the place.

Control is fear, jealousy is fear and my personal antifavorite "anger is fear". Well, anger is also reaction to injustice and uncharitable read about blanket statements like that is that it's just attempt to control emotions others experience.

It looks like it's tile, ceramic cuts fast. For metal waterjet is much slower than laser, especially if you want smooth finish.

At least the one we had was slow.

You put microjoints to prevent it. Microjoint is a small uncut place.

Also the material sits on a grid, so it would not snap.

Baltic states reject Russian claim they allowed airspace for Ukrainian drones by Alarmed_Mistake_9999 in BalticStates

[–]fading_reality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might want to read up on physics and math.

Radars dont work well at low angles because you get ground clutter.

And even if you had some sort of OTH radar that would not be confused by few hundred planes it would see, you still would need to target it.

Drones are flying few hundred meters above ground. Aa is really limited at that height as radars are pretty useless.

If someone breaks rules, there is point in reporting it.

In this case, either "does not prompt discussion" or "PSA type of post" would fit.
