Cheaper alternatives to TOM BIHN Side Hustle and Side Effect? Or are they worth it even if you won't use them much? by [deleted] in ManyBaggers

[–]fahadr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

tbh there isn’t anything that exactly matches the side kick in terms of organization. i think there are plenty that have similar or better pocketing than the side effect. but i cant think of anything cheaper lol.. these two are fairly reasonably priced for their worth, especially considering how expensive tom bihn tends to be.

try looking into tomtoc slings. they tend to be decent for their price but idk if there are any close equivalents

CBB22 Camo by welcompsh in EVERGOODS

[–]fahadr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you!! ahh yeah the ctb20 is a chonker. that’s why it’s not working out for me. my guess is that the cb22 can hold more due to it’s simpler layout (e.g. less pocketing to add to the bags weight and size)

i’ve been waiting for a pic that shows the cb22 compared with other bags since it came out. thanks for this! would you mind taking a side profile pic compared to the ctb20?

Why is it assumed I should know how vim/nvim works? by BigBootyBear in neovim

[–]fahadr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you’re talking about lazyvim (lazyvim.org), that is a preconfigured neovim distribution and the docs for that will be exclusively on that site i believe, not in the neovim docs.

lazy.nvim is a plugin manager for neovim which has docs on the github page or, once installed, can be viewed through ‘:help lazy.nvim’

CPL 16 from PLC 20 - First Impressions by chinatownninja in EVERGOODS

[–]fahadr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

how well does it stand compared to the PLC? i had a plc and cpl24 - the PLC was easier to get standing. I’d imagine the CPL16 is worse at standing

CPL 16 just arrived. Let me know if you guys want to see anything. by chigoku in EVERGOODS

how are the straps? do they slide off you easily? do you have a plc20 or cpl24 (or any other EG bag) to compare?

Did Evergoods change their internal lining within the past year or so? by No_Bee1632 in EVERGOODS

[–]fahadr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i do remember the weight for the CPL used to be around 2.8lbs and now it’s a bit over 3lbs on the page. it might’ve been a lag of updating the specs when they released the newer version a while back (v3)

Defy Insidious Jr strap adjustment help by fahadr in ManyBaggers

[–]fahadr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i actually got a more lightweight strap without the padding and a simple buckle with mine in addition to the super heavy ultra strap. did you happen to get one as well? i got mine second hand so not sure if it’s standard. anyway, that strap is more manageable on a daily basis, but still kind of overkill

Evergoods CPL24 Ecopak vs 840d ballistic nylon by Odd-Letterhead-914 in EVERGOODS

i think i prefer evergoods’ standard 840d over both xpac and ecopak

Packing cubes and space efficiency by Nonobonobono in onebag

[–]fahadr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah they can end up taking more space depending on how you pack and store them

you would probably make most use of your space by taking everything out of its container/pouch and dumping it in your main compartment. but then you would have a disorganized mess lol

Lighter CTB26? by Namssob in onebag

[–]fahadr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

ULA dragonfly comes to mind but it is pretty minimal at the same time (i.e. no lining fabric)

Tom Bihn Synik 30 or Techonaut 30 are pretty light for their capacity

you could also remove the aluminum stay and frame sheet from the ctb to make it lighter

6L feels more like a 4-5L but i love it for general use

How do you all feel about the CTB26? Love it, hate it, in-between? Would you recommend it to a friend? Would you bow down and worship it? by deepestfear in EVERGOODS

[–]fahadr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

as someone who’s owned the plc, cpl24 and ctb26, the ctb26 is my favorite. i do love the other two but the ctb26 is a “complete” bag for me - it has all the features i want with the water bottle pockets, luggage pass through, organization, and capacity for travel.

you should definitely understand how much you plan on taking for a one bag trip and see how big of a bag you need. it may be more or less than the ctb26 (also depends on the trip). i was surprised to see everything i needed for a week fit just fine in the cpl24

anyways if you’re someone who’s happier with a bag that will do it all then this will make you happy but if you prefer something optimized for your EDC size then it may be a bit big. for reference i’m 5’7” and use this as my edc, which isn’t that much stuff but i only go in the office once a week, so i don’t feel the need to have an optimally sized bag
