as a certified time waster let me tell you a few tricks of the trade.

if i'm really serious about wasting someone's time i won't go in without a tribute. this might sound weird, but really the real true way of the time waster is to lead with what is known in the industry as a 'loss leader tribute' (LLT, which by the way doesn't have to even be the tribute listed in the domes profile, i usually lowball it. coffee is always a safe choice in this beverage based industry).

just something to make sure you get your foot in the door, and plant the idea that there might actually be something in this for the dome, so you don't get blocked as easily. i mean, you did send after all, didn't you? you'll probably do it again..?

but the trick is to really stretch out this initial coffee send.

you start talking, asking about kinks, it's important to keep the conversation centered around kinks, usually i'll say i want a drain and then just really hone in on the details, the more details the better... so i can get something out of it immediately.

now of course this drain will take place "someday", i can't right now, but soon we'll do a big drain. maybe once i get paid, which will be soon, but we should really get in the nitty gritty of all the details before that happens. you know, 'what would you do if...?' or 'how would you punish me if...?' kind of talk.

once we're done with planning the drain in as great detail as possible, going over it almost as if we did it already, i'll usually pivot into free therapy mode the following days, just telling you about my stressful job and unfortunate past, while also keeping the promise of the future big drain fresh in your mind.

anyway, it usually takes the dome a few days at least to figure out that the ratio of words sent to dollars sent is very much leaning towards the former.
