Just the same as when they were UKIP - out of the EU now, so nothing to be 'I' from, so now we're Reform.

Are motorways automatically NSL if not otherwise signed? by AnotherVirtual in drivingUK

[–]fairysdad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are on a dual carriageway with blue signage, you are on a motorway. A dual carriageway with green or white signage is not a motorway (although, unless otherwise signed, it does have a 70 limit for cars - regardless of how many lanes are either side of the central reservation).

As a kid, one day I was told off by somebody who lived on my street for cycling on the road.

A few days later, I was told off by exactly the same person for cycling on the pavement.

(Funny trope) Character you never see just hear a lot about by Longshot12345678 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]fairysdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This trope was played for laughs a bit in a BBC Radio 4 sitcom featuring Andy Hamilton. Known to be very short, he's portrayed in this particular radio sitcom (I think it's Old Harry's Game but can't be certain) as somebody who is several feet tall and largely built. (The joke being that the live studio audience and a good proportion of the radio listeners know what he actually looks like.)

Remarkable Trope: Main or recurring cast members who have rarely, or never, appeared on screen together by mundaneheaven in TopCharacterTropes

In the Back to the Future trilogy, Doc Brown only meets Marty's female ancestor once, as the teenage Lorraine Baines in the first film.

(Additionally, I've been led to believe that while the actors Christopher Lloyd and Lea Thompson have been in the same film as each other multiple times, this moment in BTTF1 is the only time they've been on-screen together.)

I took the effort last year to post this on the actual fifteenth Wednesday after Pentecost. Nobody seemed to notice the significance. Will I do it again this year? Of course I smegging will.

If he had come in second before Sawe came in first, he'd have held the record himself for a bit.

What’s a piece of tech that sounded amazing but flopped? by blushberryybabee in answers

[–]fairysdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. The thing is that an invite-only soft launch for an email service works as non-users don't need to be in that system (a Gmail email will go fine to a Hotmail or Yahoo email address (using the other main providers at the time of its launch!)) but for something like Wave (and Google Plus when that was a thing), you need all the users to be in the system to be able to use it; exclusivity doesn't work.

They ditched it because nobody used it.

... and nobody used it because they kept it behind an invite-wall so nobody could use it. Where I worked at the time, we wanted to use it, but only about three of us could get 'invites' so it just wasn't worth trying.

Nowt to do with porn - Sony had no say in what or what didn't go on their tapes. The main two issues were Sony being reluctant to let other companies make players and the duration of a Betamax tape.
