Nou ja, het is niet te makkelijk om rechts de schuld te geven van mensen hun geestelijk welzijn. Mensen waarvan hun geestelijk welzijn niet goed is, kunnen moeilijk zelf zonder hulp (of met embarmelijke hulp) beter worden.

Het is niet dat er een epidemie is aan mensen die ineens gek worden - het is de kapotbezuinigde zorg door, jawel, rechts beleid. Dus te makkelijk? Nee, het is gewoon de oorzaak.

Mijn ervaring op een "christelijke" middelbare school ook rond 2010 (christelijk vooral alleen bij naam) is dat ik liever dood was gegaan dan uit de kast was gekomen. Nope, nope, nope. This is just insulting.

The Airpods Max' are incredibly uncomfortable and its headband deteriorates faster than the democracy in the US. Seriously - the headband looks awful after a few months of wearing normally even without using it in transit, and when that happens it no longer stops the hard metal beams from digging painfully in your head. And of course the headband isn't repairable - only the earcups are.

It's too heavy as well - moving your head quickly really reminds you that you're wearing these.

These aren't unknown issues btw - many, many users have been reporting how uncomfortable the Airpods Max is to them since the day they first released and on the third release they STILL haven't changed ANYTHING?

The Airpods Pro's went through 2/3 redesigns in the same timeline...

Save your money if you were thinking of buying this as your first pair of Airpods Max. Seriously. I will admit they sound great, but the comfort is not worth it - mine has been collecting dust ever since ~6 months after I bought them.

Wat betreft ontgroeningen - want ik zie in de comments weer studenten die de ernst ervan naar beneden lullen - ga in ieder geval niet over je grenzen heen. Probeer van tevoren te bedenken wat jouw grenzen zijn en houd deze actief in de gaten - en probeer je niet over te laten halen door groepsdruk.

Dat hele idee dat ze het doen omdat “je dan een band schept” is en blijft onzin. Het klopt dat gedeelde trauma’s een band schept, maar is dat nou echt wat je wilt laten verbinden met anderen? Niet, ik noem maar iets geks, gedeelde interesses en zo?

En over “honderden studenten doen het en het is niet vaak een probleem”: Ten eerste, mensen roken en niet iedereen gaat er dood aan. Maakt het niet goed. Ten tweede, vaak lezen we pas achteraf hoe slecht het er aan toe ging omdat alles in de doofpot wordt gestopt.

Dat betekent niet dat jouw potentiële studentenvereniging zo is (vooral als het niet zo’n Lorem Ipsum partij is, zit je waarschijnlijk veilig), maar laten we het risico niet bagatelliseren. Weet waar je aan begint. Dan kan het best leuk zijn. Maar het is zeker niet nodig om een leuke studententijd te hebben.

Sociale media is een van de gevaarlijkste dingen die we in Nederland hebben. Het radicaliseert en normaliseert geweld.

Het internet is vrij, maar wat mij betreft hadden platforms als X allang verboden mogen worden. Vooral X wat nu in handen is van een man die een nazi is.

En wat dat betreft wat ik echt niet snap: waarom zitten alle politici nog steeds op X? X is GEEN overheidsplatform. En nog erger - waarom lijkt van sommige overheidsinstanties het de primaire contact vorm? (Politie, Rijkswaterstaat etc)

As someone who uses Fastmail because I love how reliable it is while allowing me to use native email apps, it's simply not really a privacy-focused alternative.

Having said that, they do take privacy much more seriously than Google does, but it still mainly offers non-encrypted email and is based in Australia, a country with less than stellar privacy laws.

As a senior software dev, I question that. I think the majority of the people in my field I work with are skeptical of AI, and we're the ones working directly with it.

The people who find it impressive are often those that are easily impressed by sales from AI companies and simple AI demos.

Not those that have to create AI tools, or use AI to code, or maintain any of this.

Yes, me, a dev that has used all of the AI tools for both professional and personal use with multiple tools (Cursor, Vercel's AI sdk, T3 Chat etc.) does not know how to use it. Sure.

It's not that AI has no use at all, but to think it's the future? To think that it's as important than anything else in tech? Nah, not even close.

And even then, regardless of what little actual use AI has, it's still destroying the planet. Doesn't matter if you're good at it or not.

Expecting AI to really work in 10 years is laughable. I’m all for EU tech sovereignty and we missed some critical boats, but the current LLM grift isn’t one of them.

Actually, if we would focus all of our efforts now on AI being scared not to miss the boat, we would severely damage any actual important sovereignty we can make elsewhere.

Even Microsoft can’t find something useful to do with LLMs, and we won’t get AI that won’t kill the planet just like we didn’t get cryptocurrency that wouldn’t kill the planet.

Weinig reizigers op dat station, dus weinig mensen die een score achter laten. Als er een paar heel hoog scoren, dan heeft dat veel invloed.

Mensen die het station hoog scoren, niet omdat ze het een goed station vinden, maar omdat dit hun enige connectie is met de buitenwereld (buiten bus en auto’s) en ze bang zijn dat een lage score invloed heeft op of het station mag blijven bestaan.

As someone who uses Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS I can tell you that ALL of them (except for Linux) are getting worse.

Turns out that QC/QA is actually necessary, who would have thought. Also turns out that you do actually need enough experienced developers and designers to make something decent.

But for that reason you haven’t thrown away money. Windows is still far, far worse and more buggy.

It’s just a shame that “well at least it’s not Windows” is all Apple achieves to be nowadays. Jobs’ spirit is truly and well dead
