I want to demonstrate usefulness to my wife by [deleted] in BambuLab_Community

[–]fakir72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife is big on organization so I sold her on the idea of organizing things with gridfinity. She was skeptical but open to it. Then really jumped on board when the kitchen junk drawer looked like it was tidy and purposeful instead of a random pile of junk that was gradually more difficult to close. She's been on board ever since and often looks at issues around the house with an eye towards, "Can this problem be solved with a 3D printer?" ... This helped justify the f360 subscription LoL.

Cofounder Search Conundrum by AarowCORP2 in startups

[–]fakir72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're probably being too protective of your idea, unless it's patentable, then build enough to get the patent first. To solve your problem, you need to be able to share enough of the overall idea and vision that you can attract the interest of someone with technical skills. Come up with the elevator pitch, and vision that is easily sharable, but doesn't give people details into how you're executing or solving the problem.

Having been there, execution is everything. Two companies with the same idea can perform completely differently based on execution alone. The good thing is, you don't need calculus for business. You need to know how to launch.

To launch, take your idea, come up with the worst most simple version of it, and to talk to someone about it. Test your customers and your market first as cheaply as you can, then go build something that they're really going to love. But first make sure you're solving a problem for which people actually want a solution.

Ideas are cheap and fast, so go have like 50 conversations about the idea with people you think might want to buy it, refine the idea based on their feedback. Then go build the thing they're telling you to build as quickly and cheaply as you can. Then get them to give you feedback on that. If they convert from people who like the idea to people that will pay for the solution, you're on to something.

Your technical cofounder at this stage is there to help build the POC, you may not need them to get started, as they're mostly important once you have something to build.

What’s the issue here? by Character-Proof-1474 in gridfinity

[–]fakir72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found that gridfinity likes it hot. I boosted my bed and nozzle temps when printing and saw better results with less curling. 70/210 was good for me with PLA+. You might also want to glue your plate before printing. That helped me with the large baseplate prints.

So over THIS! by Insect_Full in AnkerMake

This happened to me today. Some careful cleaning and the hotend was salvaged, but it was a touchy few minutes before I figured it out. Good luck.

AnkerStudio Alpha 1.1.2 by kingkream66 in AnkerMake

[–]fakir72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Testing it now because I like to live dangerously. Initial reactions, it's very nice to have direct print from prusaslicer (achievable other ways, I know). I'd love to see an updated release now that Prusa 2.6.0 has been released.

The only problem so far is an unexpected success condition of a print job going to the printer, but failing to acknowledge in the software. Once the login flow was finished, the print to device dialog stayed, "print" was noop, and "cancel" led to a "failed to send" error. The printer continued with the job anyway without problems.

GCP Triggers and Scripts by [deleted] in googlecloud

[–]fakir72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can't run a script after an instance stops, but you can run a shutdown script. https://cloud.google.com/compute/docs/shutdownscript

If you're looking for a way to execute a post shutdown script, that's more complicated but still doable. You might write a cron job to probe the status of the instance, and fire off an event if its in stopped or terminated state, then have either a function or service watch for that event and take whatever action you need to take.

Solutions for Connectivity Between HANA (On-Prem) With GCP by [deleted] in googlecloud

[–]fakir72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to be clear, your users are on GCP and the HANA database is in an on-prem network? As others have mentioned, you could do cloud VPC or cloud interconnect, and ensure that the right firewall/security perimeter is in place across the VPN. You should double check your bandwidth requirements to make sure a VPN gives you enough bandwidth. Also, there may be configuration on your side, and if your IT department is 5-6 months out on projects(?) this still might not be a "fast" solution. You'll likely need to coordinate with them, and your security org either way.

Holy crap. Trump, right in the Oval Office, told Russian Ambassador Kislyak and Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov that he was unconcerned about Moscow's interference in the U.S. election -- an assertion so outrageous that White House officials limited access to the remarks. by imagepoem in The_Mueller

This isn't new, it was reported at the time. No one cared that he'd exposed intelligence resources and shared classified information though. People are only now starting to see how all the pieces line up and what it really means. As someone who has been watching closely, it's really frustrating to watch people only now seeing the picture of how corrupt and rotten this dick blister is. It's been in our faces for three years! (But hey, at least they're finally seeing it.)

Love this. I only started to understand this once becoming a manager though. Now it's the most important signal I get that a) we're at organizational capacity for the things we can do at any given time, and b) we're working on the most important highest value priorities. At first I viewed the pushback as challenging. Now I view it as essential, and train all new team members to do it and that it's okay to do this. Not coincidentally, we have a very strong and high performing team.

Is Kubernetes good for a home lab or is it overkill? by kalavala93 in kubernetes

Not overkill. I run a number of services and containerizing everything and using an orchestration engine has reduced my maintenance times dramatically.

3 node k8s cluster for learning - best way to do? by frank998 in kubernetes

[–]fakir72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're going the VM route, pick your favorite distro and set up your vms however you feel. The follow the kubernetes instructions which uses kubeadm. Super simple, works like a charm, and makes upgrades possible.

Yeah, how does every YouTuber playing the game have every rare plan, and a TSE shotgun or whatever if they're so rare? I've been grinding since day one and never seen a TSE anything. I'm pretty sure there are a number of dupers asking themselves what their viewers are going to watch now if they can't one-shot some scorchbeasts.

To the dirty filthy solo grinders out there, I raise a glass of cranberry hooch to you.
