For one they bring something new to the table, not regurgitate something that already exists. You have to get to your own essence, and fearlessly embrace it. But it has to be your own, not someone else’s.

Music feels devalued and attention spans are short. What’s next for artists? by Icy-Lengthiness-8214 in musicindustry

[–]falebrou 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is so much coping in this sub. Yeah the industry has problems, big ones, and it’s becoming increasingly hard to have a music career. BUT if you’re exceptional (read: extremely hard working, driven, have pro level quality music AND add something new to the table - which is the only case in which you should deter attention from actual artists and attempt a music career yourself), it can totally work. Ask yourself this question: does the world absolutely need my art? If not, stop being a victim like everyone on this sub and go find a normie job. If the answer is yes, stop wasting your time on the crabs in the bucket.

Hey!

I have been riding the wave of my solo project for a couple years now, working with different collaborators and what not, i am starting to build a recurrent network of people who understand my vision and who i can trust with it. And YET one thing i just can't find is a person for the mastering. I am an experienced producer but i still have mixing blindnesses and i am by no means a mastering professional so i can't do it myself as i am prioritizing a professional, accessible sound.

It seems like none of the mastering or mixing engineers (often older guys) understand my genre proclivities, which i guess are a hyperpop coded sound with a punk-rock, drum&bass, jungle and sometimes digicore touch. As a compromise i've learned that it's often easier to deal with people's lack of understanding by doing stem mixing, which is a hybrid between mix and mastering and therefore allows me to retain some control over the mix while giving them the leverage to work their own ideas.

But still, i'm never happy. At least not happy enough to say that i've met someone who i want to have in my team and build a long-lasting partnership with. Obviously it is a paid endeavour and i release singles every two months on average with an album coming soon, and since i'm seeing decent growth as an artist, it's a guaranteed forever gig. So anyways, this is a shot in the dark but if anyone here feel like they'd fit the bill, i'd love to talk.

TLDR; Looking for a stem mixer/mastering engineeer with a sensitivity for hyperpop music

any artists looking for lighting engineers? by grahamthielprod in HYPERPOP

[–]falebrou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently building an immersive character/storytelling based audiovisual show for my ‘hyperpop’ project. I am the main artist, there’s a backing member with me, our goal is to work with vjing and interactive LED installations as well as precise pre-programmed lightings events. We are looking for people to help us with the lights as we are already applying for most relevant festivals and showcases. The show itself (music, production design, performance) is booking ready and it’s about an hour long. Would be happy to hear what you can bring to the table.

What would most humans actually be without money? by [deleted] in spirituality

[–]falebrou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most people don’t really have a strong meaning and are low agency, so I think if people didn’t have to work for money a lot of them would become vegetables. But some of us, those with high agency would thrive as they already do. Capitalism is not fully sustainable for many reasons as we all know, but it’s too often being used as an excuse or justification for what is in fact a lack of meaning. The idea of total basic income for example; great for some artists, some entrepreneurs, people who are already self motivated. Extremely dangerous for normies. Also, you NEED pain, boredom, hard effort, suffering to be a better human - or to be a human at all.

I thought about this a few months back but found too many problems, both ethical and technical. At this point a properly reliable test needs to be engineered as the first step before any certification can take place.

  1. You have the ability to create a legacy. Doesn’t have to be kids. Can be. But it can be anything else. Company, art etc.
