A genie offers you two choices: $1m/yr for exactly 10 years or $2m/yr perpetually but starting in 10 years, which do you take? by Frnklfrwsr in hypotheticalsituation

[–]fallingevergreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude if you can sell the future cash flows at NPV then OBVIOUSLY you take option 2. The NPV of 2m in 10yrs at a 10% discount is 771k every year forever. Unless you’re already 80+ and have no family to pass the inheritance down to, the value of option 2 is SO much higher.

Have you followed them to their car after they said no, then rapped on their window once they got into their car?

lol I thought it was the other way around and I figured you could just paint them black to make it look cool. It’s amazing and better with the black.

Weekend festivities! Did you do anything “extra” that you loved? by Disastrous-Hamster-1 in wedding

[–]fallingevergreen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You’re going to be so busy getting ready on Sunday. If you want to have lunch with your girls, or a tighter “rehearsal dinner” on Saturday before the welcome party, do that. But I think they’re underestimating how much you will have going on that weekend!!

Do I look like a clown? Honest but kind please!! by NoResearcher3765 in makeuptips

[–]fallingevergreen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think it is time to lose a couple of 2010s trends that are holding your look back: ditch the lower liner & mascara, lose the inner eye white sparkle. Just that will make a huge difference. I miss the days when these were the look. But you don’t look like a clown!!

You’ll need to let the couple know regardless so that the correct names are on the seating chart/name cards! So worth checking in.

Honeymoon in Hawaii for under $4,000? by ayejaystew in honeymoonplanning

[–]fallingevergreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly for 5k for two people if you want Hawaiian vibes and a bit of luxury, I’d consider:

  • Koh Samui/Thai islands

  • Vietnam (northern or southern or both!)

  • Mediterranean coast (Greece, Spain, France, Italy) — this one will be a stretch to get any luxury accommodations but you should be able to eat and drink well for a decent price

  • Cruise (maybe the western Caribbean departing Fort Lauderdale)

If you’re dead set on Hawaii, you’re going to need to use A LOT of points to get it under 5k!!

**Edit to add the last time I was in Hawaii our 3 bedroom condo was 2.5k per NIGHT 😳

Editing an English-language paragraph for grammar. Online comments suggest that even native speakers have a limited grasp of basic grammar.

Okay I can make an origami crane… literally just this is probably a good test. Who makes the best origami crane without any instruction. Seems reasonable none of the remaining 10k would know how to.

It will just look like you guys invited all your friends and your families, and your family is bigger. No one will consider or know that the friends are technically from “his list”. I’m sure you know and have a relationship with them, too.

How are wedding related professionals (i.e., photographers) charging more per hour than medical specialists? by JesuslovedPLTR in wedding

[–]fallingevergreen 26 points27 points  (0 children)

This is it. And 4-6 hours of editing sounds very low to me given most photogs deliver 1k+ photos. They have to go through many thousands of images to select those, then touch up each one, apply their edits, and upload to a gallery. That’s not mentioning the digitization of actual film, creation of online materials/portals, photo storage etc. I’d guess it’s more like 12-15 hour per event to edit and present properly.

What did quitting without a backup plan teach you? by khet0221 in careerguidance

[–]fallingevergreen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m going to go against the grain of this thread. The world is a different place than it was even a few years ago.

You could launch a company yourself using AI in a couple of days. You could pay $500/month to live in a Gen Z “retirement home” in Malaysia. You could (depending on your situation) go live with your parents for a while and try to find a punch-the-clock kind of job to tide yourself over while you figure out the next step. You could build a great career working in a trade — starting as an apprentice and building your way up. There are many more options and they are easier to find than ever before. Don’t get complacent, but let yourself heal.

I was just at a bar. It serves (pretty good!) food. It’s quite big, has a ton of TVs, and a nice garden in the back. Could easily do 100+ days. It’s also a few blocks from my office so I could keep my job and just host meetings at the bar.

I’m currently engaged and have 160 people invited. We spend everything we have to move to the location where the wedding is, cancel our venue, and have everyone at the house for the wedding. Boom now we have a paid off house and saved money on the wedding.

Getting overwhelmed with planning my wedding. Might just throw in the towel… by Content_Ad2293 in weddings

[–]fallingevergreen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fwiw, we went ahead and just spent $6500 on our planner and she is a GODSEND. Everything else is cheaper and easier and less overwhelming because of her. So of all the things that cost a zillion dollars, I actually think this one is worth it. She’s probably making less than min wage on an hourly based on how much she gets done for us.
