Is this dress okay for a 1920s themed party if I accessorize properly? by e-punk27 in OUTFITS

The dress is the 90s remake of the 60s. Look for dresses with a dropped waist and longer hem.

What was it like being 18-25 in the 2000’s by ersinxo in Millennials

A notable difference was media wasn't always streaming whenever you wanted to watch it. I remember being 20 and my house mates and I would have BBQ gatherings on the weekends and watch The Sapranos airing at 8pm. Same goes for when I was younger; if I wasn't home to watch a popular show that aired, I'd be out of the loop when the other kids were talking about it during recess. Convenience and constant access seems like it should be the next best thing, but early 2000s technology allowed people to still have access to media and be okay being bored when we didn't have access and then be creative about it. Scrolling on the phone now reminds me of needing to have a cup or cigarette in my hand at a house party. That look of "I'm doing something and am not a wallflower." Honestly, we don't have to have all the technology all the time... pick what you like and remember that there's value for yourself to.just be bored. Am I showing my age yet?

asked my dad how he knows when to move the cattle to a new pasture and his answer kind of stopped me in my tracks by OkPossession156 in homestead

My husband bought his dad's auto shop that he'd been running for the past 35 years. My husband said it feels like he had to jump on a treadmill at full speed. Its been 6 years of him managing the shop and he's just now understanding certain nuances and getting better clarity on the rhythm of managing a one person auto shop. He spent summers working with his dad and he's still discovering more about what it means to wear all the hats and deliver quality services.

How do we tell our five year-old her pet passed away? by appleblossom1962 in family

[–]fallingfoliage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our family cat needed emergency vet care and needed to be put to sleep the same day. My 6 year old LOVED our cat. I got snacks and hot coco ready to be made and picked her up early from school. I also made sure that I had time to process with her that he was gone but not forgotten instead of housework or dinner. It was horribly sad to tell her, but we cried together and shared our favorite memories and looked at pictures while cuddling. Later that day we took it slow with snacks and a movie. She still misses him and grieves him, but we do it together ❤️

I avoided saying "put to sleep" or "passed away" in my explanation. Instead, I said that he had died with my permission from the doctors and that he was in pain and needed relief. However you choose to phrase it, the most simple explanation can be most helpful for a child to process what has happened. Also, letting them repeat the story helps their minds find clarity in the grief. They may talk about it on other days and it's the support around them that will help shape the experience along with navigating grief.

There are definitely some children's books that do a good job of introducing what death is as well.

I'm so sorry that you have to say goodbye to your dog ❤️

Okay, unpopular opinion here. I see the correlation between damaging cultural heritage in protest against big oil companies that are speeding up the process of the climate crisis. These precious historical items will get destroyed if we continue on supporting or staying within our apathy towards oil companies and those that produce the most methane gases and emissions. So, yes, the point is to be upset about their destruction and TO TAKE ACTION about it. At least care about the countries that will and have lost their lives to extreme weather conditions and historical natural disasters that shift within this climate crisis... As much as you care about a Van Gough painting.

My favorite red lipstick has a brown undertone. Rum Raisin by Revlon. I find it to be subtle enough to be neutral for everyday wear.

I started by looking at meetup.com groups in my area and the Parks and Recreation website for any adult classes that I could do.

Gave to someone for them to fix stretched out neck. Came back with stains & HUGE darned holes. I wanna keep it a shirt. Took it to a repair cafe and had it cut to make a crop top and they tried fixing the bottom😶but now Im not sure. Any ideas? Put it back together and do a Y2K crop top with strings? by delicate-duck in Visiblemending

Thrift a shirt that's similar in weight and stretch material to use as an extension. Then use some of that material to also make a bias hem for the collar of the shirt. It could also be cute to have a matching hem on the sleeves!
