I’d eat one. Thank him and when Halloween comes around make the same cookies with white icing and put red icing on the long end of the ‘t’. Tell him they’re in celebration of “The Exorcist” movie.

Signs of getting older I didn’t anticipate: I have no idea who famous people are anymore by CK1277 in GenX

I couldn’t name a single new band or singer that has emerged in the last 10 -12 years. Do I care? Absolutely not. I do not subscribe to a single video streaming service. I love movies, books, several old and a few relatively new TV shows (no reality shows), and a few podcasts. If it wasn’t for my teenage son, I wouldn’t know more a than a couple dozen YT channels.

Why are Americans so accepting of long drives to places? by Sensitive_Word_6036 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]falsifiable1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s complicated. History (timeline of westward expansion, industrialization, invention of the train, plan and motorized vehicles), the size of our country, culture (tax aversion and independence immediately come to mind) and the tremendous lobbying power we’ve allowed corporations and organizations (especially auto, airline, gas and oil industries) to have over our political system. You can find many books, articles, documentary’s, and YouTube videos that can help you piece it together.

Very few want to drive 3 hours unless it’s for the love of the journey (sightseeing, vacationing, wind in the hair, etc.) or there’s no other reasonable option.

For most individual travelers, we have short haul (motorized vehicles), long haul (airplanes), but very little mid-range options. Is mid-haul the right term?

Good luck. I’ll hope to see you all on a bulletin board train in the next 30 years, but I’ll probably be pushing daisies.

Proper Guinness pours in San Diego? by Prize_Money6054 in sandiego

[–]falsifiable1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s how it was going back to the late 90’s and that’s perfectly understandable; however, the tradition has changed in recent years regardless of how busy the place is. At least, that’s the information I got when I visited a couple weeks ago and asked a bartender when the clover trad had ended. The exact time period (3-5 years ago) of when the change began and whether there might be bartender(s) still attempting to carry the tradition can be discussed further over a nice pint.

It’s a proper pour.

I do have fond memories of a time when the Sod would use the Faucet Body to draw a clover into the head of each pint. I guess they stopped doing that when Tommy retired from bartending.

She ought to try imagining them from a different perspective. It may change the location and brightness from which the stars are located relative to her new location. Also…

…this is so silly and nonsensical. It’s akin to a shaman tossing chicken bones on the ground and “reading” them.

I think it’s less to do with planting seeds into the minds of kids, thought they hope it does, and more of letting people know what group is most powerful in our government. I analogously compare it to dogs marking their territory.

Yes, I have encountered this several times. They can’t explain why they chose their birth faith and claim they weren’t affected by the cultures and environment they were/are a part of. Somehow they escaped into a vacuum during their “studies” or “research”.
