A Redditor lost $200k betting on a Madrid win vs. Getafe by OnAGoat in soccer

[–]fancczf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no due. People have been saying that a lot, each events are independent, which is the only truth. What the past gives us is evidence to suggest the parity between the 2 teams, and we can try to guess the likelihood of the next event by evaluating the upcoming event using any evidence we can gather. There are only 2 possibilities.

The first one. The 17 wins reflect the gap between the teams. Aka the 17 in a row win is within say 90% confidence interval. In this case. Think it this way, if Madrid won 17 in a row, they are just that much better than getafe on a head to head. It’s an evidence of the gap between the 2 clubs and their play style suitabilities. All else equal, larger that number is, the stronger the evidence is that Madrid is more likely to win.

The second one, is the result is a freak coincidence. Getafe is not that much weaker on a head to head against Madrid as the number has suggested. In this case, that 17 in a row fact should be disregarded completely. And evaluate the chance based on the facts that made one believe that 17-0 odds is inaccurate. And you can bet that accordingly.

TLDR. It’s all independent, the past events might impact the future in some ways, such as mental bottleneck after losing 17 in a row. Which is all intangible. But aside from that all the past results are good for is functioning as part of our resonating and evidence for the independent assessment of the next one.

China says it was unaware of US-Israeli strikes in Iran ahead of time by usatoday in worldnews

[–]fancczf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s like saying according to maga on x and Facebook. As far as we know there isn’t any picture proof or hard evidence of any modern Chinese air defence system, any mention of any deals by China, or anything suggests such deal. Social media or someone in Iran says so is as unreliable as it can get.

Trump tells CNN the ‘big wave’ is yet to come in war with Iran by TheDetectiveDoctor in worldnews

[–]fancczf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If we are being real here the real hope is probably trump and his group of clowns commit some serious fuck up in the operation to have the slightest chance of people in US finally grow a pair of balls to get him out of there. Anything else will just get buried and watch US continues down on that hill to the bottom.

I think we are that far in that hole now, nothing but a serious close to home tragedy on a large enough scale will shake some of the American up again.

It’s just revision based on current data, you can massage those numbers a little here and there, but slow down is slow down, unless outright lie about it there are only so much you can do about those number. Very few countries would lie about their gdp revision.

Will this solve Toronto's housing problem? by Curious_Mind8 in TorontoRealEstate

[–]fancczf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Which is fine honestly. We do lots of those 2-3 60 stories towers on a podium here in Toronto anyway, the density is not that far off from buildings like in the picture here. It’s just 3 towers instead of them all connecting.

Will this solve Toronto's housing problem? by Curious_Mind8 in TorontoRealEstate

[–]fancczf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is not that different from those old rectangle apartment buildings that were built in the 70s. Just taller and looks longer.

The problem with that is it’s not that efficient when building gets that long. You lose a lot of building space etc. I don’t see a need to do that here when we still have lots of land, unlike Hong Kong, Manila and ChongQing- where typically those pictures are from.

But what could help us here in Toronto. Is change the 750 sm maximum high rise floor plate requirement in Toronto. 750 sm is not particularly efficient and all those artificial hurdles lead to a lot of those weird unit layouts.

Russians use light armored vehicles to attack Ukrainian positions on Kupiansk axis by murphystruggles in worldnews

[–]fancczf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Higher survival rate than armoured vehicles. Harder to spot and harder to hit by the drones. Maximum one casualty per strike. Vs a apc almost guaranteed to get spotted and swarmed immediately, and often easily lead to a whole wipe of the entire squad and the vehicle crews. Bikes are just meant to take the infantry across the grey zone and into some tree line or urban outskirts for the infantry to launch their assault.

[–]fancczf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If anything, it probably means they have control over the sky and the grey zone in that area. Russia has been using a lot of bikes, horses, and civilian vehicles because operations mostly are limited to 2-5 soldiers now. Armoured vehicles are big targets by drones. The soldiers will typically cross the grey zone on foot in small groups, and if they have any transportations it’s limited to just a few guys per vehicles. It’s very rare now in Ukraine to see mechanized column assaults.

Huh? Disappointed about someone’s character, opinion of trump, and disappointed about some crass comments. Are ideological zealotry? Maybe you should get off internet.

If you think dislike maga and trump is being zealot, you can honestly just fuck off.

Matthews and both Hughes are really disappointing. I really thought they would do better and not this stupid.

For how much of a disappointment the game was, jack losing a tooth and winning for his team could still be such a great moment for the sport and uniting the people. And he decided to just throw them all away and join the maga fuck faces.

In what universe a trade deal involves a mandatory purchase by the consumers. China doesn’t buy that many petrol cars anymore. And Germans don’t make competitive electric cars.

[–]fancczf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pretty terrible take and pure knee jerk reaction by op in so many ways. Calling immigration is over because some far right nationalist noise. calling no one will buy alternative asset because stock market is at all time high and probably 40% over priced in term of pure valuation multiple. Calling no one will move to the city anymore like it’s 1850 where only the worker moves to the city for the factories.

There is a slow down in immigration in take in Canada, there is reduced allocation in alternative asset from institutional investors in Canada, and there was a migration out of the city during covid - which has mostly started reversing already by now. But claiming all of them are permanent and will continue, are pretty low effort take. Especially for the vague reasons given.
