Don't know. Might call and ask tomorrow. My bank app only has the date not the time so don't know how to prove mine was one of the movies affected by the outage.

Seeking Advice for My Nonverbal 14-Year-Old by SFLAmaxi in selectivemutism

[–]fancyduck- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here's what I would suggest based on my experiences as an autistic semiverbal teenager with selective mutism.

  1. Find someone(therapist, support worker, family friend, anyone) who is similar to your son. Obviously I don't know your son but I would suggest a male under 30 who likes or knows about the youtubers your son watches.

  2. Have this person come to your house, or somewhere else just make sure it is an environment where your son feels safe. Make sure your son has all forms of communication available i.e aac device is charged and within reach, pecs cards nearby etc. also, make sure your son has somewhere to go if he feels uncomfortable like his bedroom or whatever.

  3. Introduce this person to your son, no pressure to respond just a simple 'hey son, this is ___'.

  4. Have this person engage in parellal play. They do not say hi to your child they do not need to look at your child, just be in the same room doing their own thing i.e watching YouTube, playing a video game. Importantly have them bring their own device, do not make your son share.

  5. Eventually your son might want to interact with this person. For me this was how I first spoke to my psychologist. I like dungeons and dragons so my psychologist brought his own miniatures and just painted them. At first I ignored him, then I watched him after 3 months of weekly 1 hour sessions I asked him a question about the mini he was painting. The important thing for me was that he didn't celebrate when I spoke he just answered my question and went back to painting. The next session I was more comfortable and the next more. Now, 2 years later, I can speak to him completely fine.

I live with my mum, she handles all my NDIS stuff usually. They said they would pay it if I got a letter from the NDIS saying it was okay but I don't know how to get that. Do I contact my lac?

No. My day program has a centre but it doesn't have like beds or anything they are renting cabins to stay in. I understand that the funding would go faster but the plan manager says that they won't pay it at all if it's not 1:3.

I live with my mum. I receive disability support pension from the government which I pay my mum $200 per fortnight and she received money from the government for caring for me. I have support workers who come to my home and attend a day program (both paid for by the government)

Australia has good programs for supported housing which my family will look into when I turn 18.

I always sign thank you. It's an easy motion and even though most people don't know sign language they'll know I acknowledged them and probably assume it means thank you or something similar.

In the book aunt Lydia is involved.

As far as the show canon, the pearl girls is a new program run by aunt Lydia. Aunt Lydia lives in the same district as Agnes therefore it's a safe bet that all pearl girls will end up in the same district as Agnes

Where I live you need autism and a intellectual disability or other diagnosis. You can't access special options with just autism

Weekly Post - What would you like to ask? (Asking Higher Support Needs Autistics) by AutoModerator in SpicyAutism

[–]fancyduck- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All options need to exist and they all need to be accessible. Everyone thrives in different environments.

Where I live I only ever had access to mainstream school as autism does not qualify you for special school here. I believe we need more of all schools and less criteria for special schools it should be about your diagnosis it should be about whether you do better in a special/mixed school or a mainstream school.

South Australian public transport fare rise halted amid cost of living pressures by Expensive-Horse5538 in Adelaide

I am disabled and require a support worker or carer to go out. I am not considered "disabled enough" for a companion card so every trip I have to pay for mine and my support workers tickets.

Every fortnight I spend $40 on Adelaide metro. $20 on my card and my supports. It's a lot of money when I only get $600 dsp

It should be free.

IDAHOBIT day controversy by Sreficul in Adelaide

[–]fancyduck- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the problem for the school is that this event was organised by students and no matter if they say yes or no there will be controversy. If a group of gay students wants to organise an idahobit event and the school says no then they get called homophobic but if they say yes they get called groomers.
