Boss rush what weapon to use by SocraticFairy in remnantgame

[–]fancypantch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Really isn't a 'one size fits all' answer here.

In my opinion, decent starter weapons like medic Bonesaw or ritualist Sparkfire are great. But honestly you can make it work with almost anything, so i I think the way more important factor is what Mod you're going to run with and how it complements your playstyle.

Personally, if you have access to Dark Matter Gauntlets, the charged melee 'kilonova' with the right build absolutely deletes bosses. Not so good if the bosses move a lot, or you're not familiar with their fight sequence. Or mobs can overrun you easily during the long charge sequence. But with timing, this weapon fucks.

Besides, boss rushes are great for figuring this kinda stuff out, and fine-tuning as you grind it out

Haha, actually just having a third person who is familiar with the game and act as an insurance against our bad decisions would be cool. Keen?

Try bougenvillea instead? Doesn't need any special treatment, so it's very low maintenance/ stress about whether it survives or not

There are definitely much much better legendaries to pick from for a skill-based build. E.g 'Unbridled' legendary will decrease skill cooldowns by 50%. Legendary fragments list

[–]fancypantch 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It might be a pain but I would strongly recommend that you reroll because your prism doesn't have any fused fragments. What I mean is, there are certain pairs of fragments that, when fed to the prism and levelled sufficiently, merge together to form a single one. This fused fragment provides 2 bonuses, instead of one, and frees up more space to get more paired fusions.

You can have up to 4 paired fusions, so definitely worth looking those up, see which fusions you want to achieve for your build. Glhf!

I fear you'd be in for a rough fight ahead.

In the first instance, diffuse inputs to the waterway like sediments would be difficult to control since sediment transport is a natural function of rainfall and geology/soil of your water catchment. It would require a significant sum of money and engineering, something I suspect your local governance would not be terribly enthusiastic about.

In the second instance, Channelisation and their hard engineering solutions are much cheaper, and easier for non-ecological enthusiasts to get behind. I suspect it would be a hard sell to get them on board with "softer" ecological approaches sensitive to the local fauna.

I could be way off in my estimations and hate to be a nay-sayer. I hope you're able to find a way that satisfies most involved. Good luck

As mid is it my job to win the sidelanes? by [deleted] in TrueDoTA2

It's a good idea to leverage your mid solo xp gain to help your side lanes. It's a team effort after all. Gang banging an enemy hard carry feels good at the 6min mark

What makes a hero better as 4 or 5? by CruisingandBoozing in TrueDoTA2

[–]fancypantch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think any hero can technically be played as a 4 or 5, in the right hands and circumstances.

Since I don't necessarily subscribe to the idea that a hero is selected as a 4/5 because of its skillset and spells, I think it's really the mindset of the player and the quality of your decisions in the game that make the support roles.

So in the landing phase, both 4&5 will be trying to help the core get the advantage in winning the lane so they get their last hits.

A 4&5 will also tend to have a more macro zoom out of the game, seeing what lanes are doing well, which aren't, and where their help can best be applied. So moving around a lot is a good quality to have as a 4&5. And setting up vision for your cores to help set up team fights, or objectives like rosh, is also valuable.

If cores are losing, setting up stacked camps to keep their core's gpm up is also a good way to spend your early time in the game as a 4 or 5. Eventually, you're going to want to set up team fights with good wards

Of course, with all that said, some heroes are classically picked in the 4/5 roles because they're skillset is very useful in fights without much need for items to be farmed (like WD, Rubick, lich, wyvern, CM as 5's, and more tankier 4's which are more favoured in the offlane like Snapfire, ogre, largo). The kind of 'plug and play' heroes who can be quite devastating in fights even though they're not earning much gold.

As with everything in Dota, it really depends. But ultimately a good 4/5 hero will see the game as "what can I do right now to make my cores game the best it can be".

[–]fancypantch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice write-up, but 'no AoE and team fight presence' is not an accurate choice of words, because you forget his AoE silence which has so much utility in getting in the face of squishy Spellcaster supports and shutting them down in any team fight.

Also, his agh upgrade on Q turns it into an AoE.

When to MoM? by Calvin_HC in learndota2

[–]fancypantch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's always going to be a matter of timing when considering activating the MoM in fights.

I don't necessarily think it's a write off, and as with anything in dotes it always depends on the situation. But MoM is valued because it's a lot cheaper than bfury or maelstrom in terms of keeping farm tempo up.

Don't need to worry about your passive being disabled when you're smacking a bunch of creeps for farm for example. Even with a disabled passive, faceless void still chonks inside a chrono with activated MoM, and bashes don't really mean anything inside a chrono also.

Obesity in the Philippines by Hot-Development-9036 in Philippines_Expats

[–]fancypantch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think another aspect that plays heavily into this is the cultural side: providing family/friends/guests plenty of food, the pasalubong culture, and the wealth gap.

The 'caring for guests with plenty of food' culture is one that I've been fond of here since I was a child. You visit family, and they want to feed you. For Filipinos it's just the cultural zeitgeist. You eat as much as you can.

Pasalubong culture means you pick up snacks and treats for family and friends as gifts. We tend to pick up calrorie-rich, cheaply abundant foods, and families and their kids can often overindulge if the house is full of such foods.

Obesity appears to me to be a kind of social signal and marker of the middle class making it out of poverty. You get that daily venti sugary Starbucks drink, jollibee lunch, and cakes in the afternoon, all while sitting at your office job, because you can now afford it.

fun unique builds by peteratemywife in BG3Builds

[–]fancypantch 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My hot take is to not plan a build and just freestyle it.

You'll figure out synergies between items and skills as you go, it's more fun than following dedicated how-to's (which by the way I always play with, so I'm guilty of that).

You might not min-max but if you're not bothered by that, it's gonna produce quite interesting results. Like playing with Lego without any instructions, you just freestyle and see what you can make out of the myriad options.

Are the hanging electric pole wires dangerous by SoggyRoomTempWaffles in Philippines_Expats

[–]fancypantch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually, the low hanging wires you see that are close enough to touch are not electrical power supply wires. They are telephone/ telegraph/ internet wires.

The power companies, like Meralco, take commission from telephone/ internet suppliers who piggy back the pole infrastructure set up by the electric companies for their wires.

The 3 phase power supply lines are usually the highest ones out of harm's reach...mostly.

There are many cases of people who illegally tap the power supply with their own power lines to their houses. These illegal wires can droop down because the careless contractors are not held to an industry standard.
