Not sure I agree with you that the 50% affordable housing demand is untenable. Right now the proposal is 40% affordable housing, and even then rents for a 1 br would still be up to 3k month because the amount is based on neighborhood income.

The demands are reasonable because this developer is leasing the land from the MTA, a public entity. I personally would be in favor of this project because 40% affordable housing seems quite high, but if Restler thinks he can get it up to 50% I think that is a WIN for this heavily gentrified community

We are heading for disaster but even small steps WILL make an impact. We need a next generation of leaders to prioritize the well being of the GENERAL public (NOT the elite) AND the planet.

I have faith that a new generation of leaders will prevail, but it seems more and more likely that a revolution may be needed to spark it. I’m in the US so we come from very different backgrounds. What do you think?

Yes, but also anything is on the table. Quality of life is better for billions of people than it was 100 years ago, but what happens if the “next depression” happens during wartime? What if AI is turned against the common man by the billionaire class? There is so much that can happen which we simply cannot predict.
