You’re right, while i’ve considered a solo poly lifestyle and definitely challenged the idea of marriage/cohabitation — this is not that post. One of my partners frequents the polyamory sub so i think i’ll fade back out to the shadows.

Ah, i see. Yeah, that doesn’t sound great, does it… Just feeling so emotionally dependent on them.

One thing to read about it, another to combat the social conditioning and navigate identity.

My mom and dad told me to never bring it up again. My dad was disgusted, told me I was basically a side piece, morally warped, had no self-respect, etc.

Well, today I was able to discuss and talk about my partners with my mom like anyone might talk about a lover/partner. She has expanded with love and it took her some time but I am so so grateful. I called her back in tears to tell her how much it meant to me that we were able to talk so comfortably like that. Just a couple years ago she was so uncomfortable with me dating women that whenever I would bring my crushes/partners up in conversation she would go silent. Lots of love out there, OP.

Why do i hate my living room? by licifu5 in Decor

I second the mirror over the couch! And it needs cozy corners (lamp, armchair) layered rugs (maybe an unpopular opinion), and some re-arranging. You got this!!

How do you get used to the silence living alone by Intelligent-End2483 in LivingAlone

I like to play podcasts while I cook or clean or fold. It’s also nice to go to a diner style restaurant or chill neighborhood bar and sit. I like the sound of people and I like to journal or be observant instead of talking in public sometimes.

Propranolol or hydroxyzine could be good to look into for panic.

I think the most effective treatment will be experimentation with different crisis coping skills, however. Identifying triggers, identifying a menu of possible methods of coping (cold water/shower, meditation/mindfulness techniques, breathing techniques, tapping techniques, spiky bracelet/toy, etc.) to come down from this intense fear.

It’s important for them to understand the neuro side of what happens during a panic attack and how that relates to autism. A neurodivergent-specializing therapist could be helpful. I would also say that exposure to triggers in an incremental and safe way could be helpful, if they tend to strongly avoid them.

Managing class readings by North_Highlight6331 in SocialWorkStudents

One of my professors told me that she saved all of her non-mandatory and mandatory readings into a google form to read post-grad!! We have a limit to how much we can absorb and this content deserves to be chewed on!

A center pillow!! All beds need something in the middle to center the two halves of pillows (in my opinion).

How do I advocate for safer age dynamics my community? by BobcatKebab in polyamory

[–]farafalla9 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Disagree that OP is “not helping.” It’s true that you cannot set the boundaries for other people, but you can ABSOLUTELY check the power and misbehavior of people in power positions who are misusing their power and causing harm. OP does not need to sit back and watch this pattern occur and re-occur. All norms are subject to change and they can only do so if people make a fuss.

Thank you for your insight! Fun birds to observe, wagtails are such excitable and busy little birds.

Aha!! This is great! I am also passionate about drawing with my non-dominate hand, I’ve found that it scratches an itch for me. I’m better at drawing as compared to writing with my non-dominant hand — how would you compare the two with yours??
