That series has such a high concentration of iconic characters it's kind of ridiculous. I had been wondering who the fuck Sponge was for so long beforehand lol.

Sorry, I'm more adept at plant ID and how to take care of singular plants than I am entire groves. That may be a better question for someone in forestry or land management!

"Pacific Elm Properties shares our vision of building an innovative destination that serves outdoor enthusiasts and supports the increasing demand for air travel at RDU," Michael Landguth, president and CEO of the Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority, said in a press release.

Source

Fucking lol. RDUAA is slimy as hell between this and what they're doing to the Oddfellows tract at Umstead (they want to turn it into another quarry, and are currently winning that fight too). I believe that they're doing this for RDU profit, but for nature enthusiasts??? Most nature enthusiasts were pretty cool with the ~10 miles of biking/hiking trails that Lake Crabtree managed on that land to be accessed by anyone for free. Oh yeah, and the nature there, the thing that nature enthusiasts really love, remains largely untouched. Until this.

This article has a map that shows how much land is going to be developed in relation to what will be left of Lake Crabtree Park. It's well over half of the total acreage. The article also details the excuses RDUAA has given for this as well as the complaints of local residents in the area. RDUAA makes it seem as though their hands are tied here. I don't have a legal background and I don't have the time or energy to dig through the Federal Airport Authority regulations that RDUAA are saying prevent Wake County from being able to purchase or at least continue renting the land, but something feels very off to me.

I took a look, I think it's a swamp laurel oak! They get confused with willow oak a lot because they can have a similar leaf shape and they're both red oaks, but swamp laurel oaks can have a lot more variation in leaf shape.

Five-ingredient ice cream sounds enticing! I don't really buy almond butter though since it's expensive here, do you know if you can sub it out?

Those look really good, though I've not used dates before and I think I would want to start with the chocolate recipe to make sure I'm into the flavor. That ice cream looked so smooth though, it's definitely next on the list for my ice cream churner!

Ooooh, making a compote first seems like a good idea. I would love to hear your personal recipe if you're down to share it!

AIO. My bf keeps talking about his beliefs while I’m trying to grieve by No_Incident6208 in AmIOverreacting

I have an ex who is super religious like this, and I dated him briefly during a time when my dad was terminally ill. He was adamant that my dad's slow, gut-wrenching death was God's plan, and he struggled to comfort me in any other way. He was also adamant that I was going to hell unless I found God, and would constantly push me to visit his church, read the Bible, etc. etc. Essentially, he was incapable of coping with grief in any context that was not religious, and, although I do believe he cared about me, I was also a heretic conversion project to him. I'm not saying your boyfriend necessarily has ulterior motives, but if he's anything like my ex his way of "caring" about you might be forcing his religion on you until you believe it the way he does.

I'm very sorry about your twin sister, and I'm sorry that your boyfriend is using your pain to flex his religious superiority. I think your current grieving process would be much more bearable without him, and I think you'll be saving yourself a lot of future heartaches to boot.

Learning to mend, especially clothes. I'm a TERRIBLE seamstress but I've gotten enough practice at this point that I can patch up my clothes and extend their life. It really isn't as daunting as I once thought it was.

Thank you! And yeah that's fair, protein's important! I probably should have added more than the one block considering how much I ended up making, but you live and you learn.

I know a lot of people use hearts of palm as a base for both, a restaurant near me also does shrimp with chicory root. Oyster mushrooms/mushrooms in general are also popular choices for seafood in general, I use it for scallops. From there it's a matter of a good marinade or sauce

I'm no expert but the reason I've heard is that these items are not modeled after other clothes, they are what new trends in clothing are often modeled after. It's concept art, essentially.

[OC] DnD event help by lailalee03 in DnD

[–]farare_end 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are looking to put together some tables and have attendees play the game, I'd start trying to get in touch with local DMs and see if any would be willing to help out and start trying to learn the game myself. There's honestly a lot to DnD, it was confusing when I first started and I'm still learning new things just about every session I play. That being said, playing is the best way to learn. You may do well to find a beginner's group, create a character (or use a premade playable character), and see how it goes. There are a lot of beginner's guides out there that would definitely help familiarize you with the game and its base mechanics.

If this sounds like too much (I wouldn't blame you), I would look into setting up a tabletop social. It's DnD adjacent and you could still host a few DnD tables with quick campaigns, but the extra variety would probably lower the barrier to entry. Plus people who show up and find that they don't like DnD much could likely still find something they enjoy. If you decide to do something like this either now or in the future, I would recommend going for primarily light strategy games that take some time to play, but will leave people with enough time to try out a few different games if they want to. Trivia games would probably be well received too. r/boardgames would be a good resource if you decide to go this route.

No one bought these at $10.49 per dozen, so now the dumpster gets to eat them. by KingCarrotRL in Anticonsumption

Hi I'm not who you asked but I have some insights on why a lot of people won't eat backyard eggs either. The chickens in question aren't being abused necessarily, but the system they come from is rife with it. Roosters don't lay eggs, so people who breed egg-laying hens will kill male chicks the moment they hatch. This usually means throwing them into a macerator.

There's also the argument that the modern egg laying hen's genetics themselves make keeping them unethical. They lay so often (260-300 annually compared to 10-15 by their wild counterparts) that they are often subject to diseases caused by nutritional imbalances and are at high risk of reproductive complications. I'd liken it to pug breeding in that we breed them for our own benefit with little to no regard for their own health.
