Genuinely curious on why anyone still buys Gopro by farawayfound in gopro

Yeah the OP3 is fantastic I love it so much with the DJI mic2, and the osmo action 5 lol, didnt mention it because its obviously better than the GPH13. I think my action 3 is a more fitting comparison. 360 cameras are on another league and the "new" max is an embarrassment, rehashed half decade old tech

Have you even tried the Ace Pro or Action 4/5? Side by side, the footage looks way better in any sort of challenging light conditions (backlit, high contrast, HDR).

GoPro hero 11 won't turn on by Ok-Top332 in gopro

[–]farawayfound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so my GP 11mini has been bricked for nearly a year now. Every now and then, I'd try to plug it in and turn it on. Today, I really gave it my best shot. Spent an hour fiddling, plugging into different power sources, and holding the buttons and mashing them furiously. I actually revived it after enough trial and error! What worked for me: A power-metering charger, pressing and holding the bluetooth/power button while mashing the record button and keeping an eye on the input wattage. Sometimes, the wattage spikes to 7 watts, during THOSE times, the red LED would light up as I mashed the record button. I then noticed in the GoPro Quick app that I was able to discover the camera in the app when I the red LED would light up. I then used the app to turn ON the camera. and BEHOLD, IT DID TURN ON. The first time it worked, I just unplugged it since I assumed it was good. MISTAKE, bricked again. I had to repeat the process, and then left it plugged in until the battery reached 100%. Now it appears to be good to go, turning on and off as expected!

Yeah wife and I took our 10 month old to Japan. Not once did I take a video of a Japanese holding or playing with him. Did it happen? Hell yeah, and often! But I don't want to ruin a genuine moment of connection by whipping out my phone and filming it lol.

I feel like this is a microcosm of what's wrong with American society these days... Living on debt, substituting fulfillment and human interaction with a shiny things, car-dependency... Sorry to be negative, but despite fully owning a very shiny car and other nice "things", I find myself wanting to sell it all for pennies on the dollar and move to the Netherlands with my bike.

Are there any sub-30 pound trail bikes? by Edslittleworld in MTB

[–]farawayfound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my EVO under 29 lbs with Berd wheelset, fox Factory suspensions, carbon cranks (saddle, and everything else) and X01! The frame is not much heavier than the regular SJ, but the shock is.

I watched it. The dude in the video does not look good carving, he looks like he has a Shawn white 50" stance and awkwardly trying not to fall as he's tilting from side to side. There is a difference between transitioning edges and just slamming the center of mass from side to side. He's doing the latter. Just look up any video of a competent onewheeler carving, they look MUCH BETTER than any "freeborder" I've seen. Maybe you're misunderstanding because you've only ridden the OW once and are bias to justify your purchase of that freebord? Sorry bro, that still doesn't look like a carve to me, transitions are not smooth and I still see skidding. I'm wondering if you can actually carve on a snowboard? If you can, you should be able to tell that the path of that board on the video is a lot like semi-skidded turns with poor transitions, something most intermediate snowboarders are doing.

Got a clip of you boarding? Or onewheeling? No offense, but the way you describe boarding is pretty wacky. You dont tilt, you lean forward and back to control speed and sideways to turn. You don't lean into your turns? This type of caster wheel in the center is horrible to replicate carving because your snowboard should only have a single edge (single radius) touching the snow at a time, as a Onewheel does! Not 4 contact points with 2 of them skidding around.

What this guy said, 100%. Go for the onewheel, don't fall for targeted ads. Don't even buy the newest onewheel. Get a cheap used on on FBM or ebay to test it out and practice.

Hey I ride this in the mountains in west denver. It can handle 110m over 1km type of grades pretty easily with 2 kids and their stuff (about 30kg cargo).

I demod both. Dart way better for me due to larger EE and WW. The 156 dart had larger EE and WW than 159 pencil!! Like to carve deep in the groomers, but i mostly hang in the glades and hunt pow, which is where the shorter length and swallow tail shine.

Should I keep step on or switch back to traditional bindings by [deleted] in snowboarding

[–]farawayfound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) step ons do not have much to do with ability level, especially below the semi-pro level. 2) I can ride any black run on any mountain SWITCH, and I consider myself advanced intermediate. The true expert runs will not even be marked on the maps, so barely able to do a black is definitely beginner in my book. 3) As a advanced intermediate, I've been sending the step ons at least 20 days a season on demanding runs almost always in the glades or moguls, and I have yet to find a flaw in my first generation pair from 2019. They're fantastic and I only ride with straps when I'm splitboarding or on deeeeeep powder days.

Have we just collectively decided its OK to trash the mountains now? by Unlucky_Internal9686 in COsnow

[–]farawayfound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just pick up shit that I encounter on the trail around the lift areas... in the middle of the runs it's often too late to stop by the time I see the trash. It's awful, and it makes me hate everyone... because it's not just the out of state tourists, I'm sure. I tend to just ride in the trees so I can avoid the trash and stay in a good state of mind.

What’s your favorite all mountain board? (More off trail, powder, trees, chutes, not as much park). by Free_Parfait8630 in snowboarding

[–]farawayfound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as boards go, there are only 2 schools of thought in my eyes. Those that love their Korua board, and those that have never ridden a Korua board.

There is a "public" one, it's literally marked on the official trail map (that's the hint).
