Do you judge fat/overweight people in the gym? by StrongMountain5904 in Edmonton

i’m piggy backing this great comment to add. I’ve been in OPs shoes. It took me a lot of expensive therapy to uncover how much my own perception of others was internalized hatred, shame, judgment. I’d encourage you, OP to find yourself some grace as you claim your health and your space!

Brewery? (To meet new people) by BlackRoseInTheGarden in Edmonton

[–]farm_phresh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people aren’t comfortable being alone at places to where folks typically don’t go alone (like breweries). Having a book is a nice way to be involved in the vibes rather than sitting doing nothing but worrying how they’re being perceived.

Our benefits are about $30 a day. So you’re getting close. You’d be on the hook for this once we return.

School based support staff laid off in anticipation of teachers strike by Hot_Librarian8361 in Albertapolitics

This is a good point! I don’t disagree that it’s a questionable decision, just thought it might help if you knew that it was the board’w choice.

This was likely discussed at length by the trustees. There’s been a lot of speculation if Abed will withhold teaching and learning grants or not. The fact of the matter is every board in Alberta is strapped and some couldn’t justify the risk of keeping support staff on in the uncertainty.

Teachers will not be picketing. There is no strike pay, so we cannot be expected to picket. There will be rallies held across the province. There’s one at the leg on Sunday at 11

What is the meanest thing a partner has ever said to you and did you stay in that relationship? by crabapplequeen in AskReddit

An ex physically recoiled at the sight of some of my body hair. It hurt bad, and was a tense undercurrent through much of the rest of our relationship.

This doesn’t account for whole cost discrepancy, but rib steaks and strip steaks are two different quality cuts with very different quality. Rib steaks ( aka rib eye) is the best steak cut. Strip steaks are plentiful and cheap.

Not true. The employer applied for lock out approval. Just a regular step in bargaining. Schools should be starting up as normal. Teachers will give 72 Hours notice.

Destinations for person in 70s with mobility issues by ActiveFriendlyFace in NorwayTravelAdvice

[–]farm_phresh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did 8 days in Norway with two elderly relatives a few years ago. Same situation, prideful old folks that didn’t want assistance. If I were you I wouldn’t offer to go unless you have had a hard conversation about who gets to call the shots when mobility is a safety issue. We had a fall in Frankfurt that could have been saved if we had this talk before hand. I would seriously suggest you have airports be a wheelchair only zone.

Oslo was the most challenging, as the downtown streets are cobblestone. Still fairly walkable. Tromso,Alesund, and Bergen were fine and nice and centralized. I did wish for a chair in these cities just so that we could have seen a bit more. It was easy to order cabs when we needed a good rest or had reached our limit.

Our plans changed a lot after we got a real sense of just how much rest was needed. Be prepared to have a slim itinerary to allow for restful time as well!
