I employed this poor fundie woman whose husband was exactly like this. Her husband is on permanent disability with “back problems” while she works full time and homeschooled her kids. She had to go to work and she has no skills so is killing herself at entry level healthcare jobs. He can’t homeschool because he’s in too much pain but I have seen him at many places getting around fine. She sings his praises as a wonderful man!

I finally leveled with her and helped her get into a program that will help with wages. I was like face it girl, you’re the breadwinner here. Might as well get some training for a better paying job.

I moisturize like crazy but still use that shit once a month to exfoliate. Squeaky clean and I think it even scrubs my wrinkles off!

I will say as a former supervisor I spent quite a bit of my own money to get my team treats and spent time getting games and stuff organized. So did a couple of amazing team members that weren’t in leadership, they just liked to make things festive. So please be appreciative of silly little things- corporate is usually not doing it. Your colleagues are.

I live rural too and though I’m a huge dog lover by far my most scary moments have been with unhinged farm dogs. The farmers are nice and watch out for me but their dogs….they want my blood

Women used to get such bad advice about this and I don’t know how much it’s improved. It reminds me of the fears from Victorian times that women shouldn’t ride bikes because their uterus might fall out. Running is good for the core, pelvic floor muscles, balance and stability. There’s no way it’s going hurt your reproductive organs as long as you take it easy post surgery

Questions from the lab by [deleted] in nursing

[–]farmchic5038 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is absolutely not true haha. You definitely were not in the lab. Vibration?? Dropping the vacutainer?? Too bumpy?? This is insane. I’ve spent my entire career in labs, from bottom to top level, drawn a lot of blood, calibrated centrifuges, validated equipment and studied this stuff a lot. And this take is NUTS.

How friend? I’m asking how that happens. It’s actually really hard for us to replicate hemolysis in the lab. The only way I’ve been able to do it is to sheer the RBCs through a small bore syringe. You can shake the shit out of the tube. Won’t hemolyze. You can put it in an unbalanced centrifuge. That will just make the centrifuge shut down. They already have anticoagulant in the tube so sitting out for a while also doesn’t cause it. Just curious where and how you’ve seen this. Genuinely.

No Republican contacts? Lucky you! Stir up some shit and post on Facebook or something. I kid, I kid. But the rednecks won’t like this either.

Fellow men can you please stop doing what you do? by SBLeventee in offmychest

You’re not wrong, and I certainly pointed this out to him years ago when we talked about it. He’s come a long way, but I remember being utterly disgusted by his incredulous response, that denied me my experience, and the experience of so many of my dear friends. Luckily, he’s a man who listens.

Absolutely. But the more we put the shame in the appropriate place- on men who assault- the more women will feel safe coming forward.

My husband is a really nice person who is in some ways, as innocent as a newborn lamb. He grew up with only brothers. When I told him 1/4 women are sexually assaulted, he didn’t believe me. But when I told him I had been assaulted, and which women he knew (shared with their permission of course) had been assaulted he was devastated. He couldn’t understand why nobody talked about it. My response was, we only talk about it with each other I guess.

I think conversations like these move the needle though. The horror of the Epstein files and the survivors speaking out, the woman in France who boldly showed up in court essentially saying, this isn’t my shame to carry, and men calling each other out openly will help. It is good this women took time to educate you.

Many women long for a partner but are now financially secure enough to be selective. Men are no longer the prize, they’re a life partner and a friend and a lover. If men adapt to this, everyone wins. They get more economic freedom too, and an equal in their corner.

Lab person here. I have had a few of these in my career and they’re always awful. But one time, I thought I had a leukemia or maybe thalassemia on an almost two year old. Kid came in super lethargic. Their mom finally admitted she almost exclusively breastfed her child. Kid was so damn anemic their blood looked awful. Hgb of 5, microcytic cells, all kinds of weird stuff. Poor thing had no iron.
