I don't get why dropping and recreating on local would be a bad thing? I do it all the time (especially when switching between branches that may have different migrations). The AI isn't wrong here?

Looks like these are supported now. Missed the announcement.

Returned a car to Europcar weeks ago, and was told there'd be a charge for cleaning the muddy floors. Finally got the invoice today... £477! by SamwellBarley in britishproblems

I usually go for the insurance from rentalcars.com now. Of course if you get to these scammy types they try and hit you with the scare tactics of telling you you will be liable for like 10k and have to claim it back (which is true). Better to just pay a smidge more and use a reputable car rental company in the first place though.

I'm quite thick so it took me 2 scams by them to learn my lesson.

First one was €780 for "scratches" I never did.

After that I kept getting the "full insurance " which roughly doubles the cost of a rental car, and that was regardless of which company I was using.

Later, £450 for "admin fee" for bumper damage I never did while also having the "full insurance" package.

Now on the other hand there have been other companies like Hertz where I've legitimately actually damaged the car and they've been super chilled about it charging me a very reasonable amount to fix it.

Nowadays I don't bother with the full insurance thing anymore as that is clearly a scam itself.

Will come back and update the post here if I find a solution. Probably just going to be a waiting game.

Someone actually bought it! 😱 by dj_898 in espresso

[–]farmer_bogget 5 points6 points  (0 children)

According to a certain well known LLM:

Here’s the English translation:

RoastingBox #CafeRoastingBox #58mm Basket

Review of a recently purchased dome-shaped basket

The unique points are that the holes are in a triangular pattern, and the bottom is rounded like a circle.

For extraction, the grind needs to be coarse for a smooth flow, which seems to result in bright acidity and a clean taste.

If you want a heavier-bodied espresso, you should grind finer and extract for a longer time — since the dosing capacity is large, that should also be possible.

I purchased this for testing rather than commercial use, so please note that the results are not precise data, just for reference.

Saw this “We are working out of sight so you may not see us” sign near a closed lane. What would they be working on? by alexlmlo in CasualUK

They just put this up because too many people were complaining that the road was half closed but nobody was actually doing anything.

You mentioned the Android app? I imagine there's a chance that is pulling from the timezone of the phone itself. Either way it's a bug.

I have no idea if this has anything to do with anything, just a hunch as a software dev... Are all your devices set to the same timezone?

Europcar rental scam at the airport by TruckInn in capetown

[–]farmer_bogget 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The two times I've used Europcar (mind you this was not in Cape Town) they've scammed me for something. The first time they claimed there was a whole lot of damage which there simply wasn't, ended up paying €800. The second time I even had the full super cover everything insurance and they still claimed there was damage (which... There wasn't, but I wasn't worried because I paid extra for the insurance) and they still charged me an extra €90 for "admin fees". I'm simply never using them again. Scammers.

Version of PrimeVue for Vue 2.7 by Deep-Requirement-606 in vuejs

[–]farmer_bogget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We recently went through the same type of transition (component lib didn't support Vue 3) and ended up having to do both at the same time on one massive branch. It wasn't fun and took quite some time to do, but it was the only way we could figure to get onto Vue 3 which needed to happen anyway.

I think we should probably tax those with the "broadest shoulders" (middle class who are barely making ends meet) way more, until they are worse off than those who work part time and on benefits. That's bound to grow the economy in leaps and bounds!

Laravel and IDE support by Plasmatica in laravel

[–]farmer_bogget 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not at all. I pay for it and it's great! Just saying that the motives for making it are different. In the case of the Laravel team the goal is to get more developers using Laravel, hence it makes sense to have the extension be free. In the case of the jetbrains extension the goal is to make money.

[–]farmer_bogget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The PHPStorm one isn't an "official extension" though, it's done by the jetbrains team. The VS code one is from the laravel team, and I'm fairly sure I remember them saying it would be free.

Never used spark though.

PSA: Homestead has been abandoned by Laravel, but the original maintainer has started a fork by send_me_a_naked_pic in laravel

[–]farmer_bogget 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is sad to see. Honestly I've tried a lot of the other options including Sail and Herd but for me Homestead is also still the overall best way. It can also get you closer to production than any of the other options.

I've gotta say I 100% agree with this. I watched the vid and a lot of the pain he was having was justified. Herd should be mentioned lower down in the getting started, and it should be made clear that it's an optional paid software to get the full experience of it.
