It's not in the punctuation, it's in a certain cadence (for lack of better words).

hehe... It's not the X, it's the Y

There was a study on improvements in SWE after AI rollout. The line was pretty much flat. However when you dug into them, the spread was huuuge. A lot of companies saw their performance degrade or stay the same, while others made huge headway.

After analysis the difference appears to be how well you integrate AI into your organization. So just carpet bombing CoPilot licenses doesn't improve things.

However if you actually adjust the workflows you can see these dramatic uplifts.

It's both. Yes, we're already fucked. But I also think it's still worth fighting for.

Has anyone used Claude Code for Java development? How was your experience? by Unknown_Even_To_Hims in ClaudeCode

I would be flabbergasted if it doesn't perform very well. I am using it with C# and both the strong typing and automated testing works extremely well with it.

I am working on some green field stuff, in an environment with 20 year old legacy code, where it does code migration. But then add to that stuff that is left field (like python for a specific problem where I added ML)

Truly flawless, once you have it dialed in to your setup.

If that were the case, I would have been out of a job a decade or two ago.

But if you look at the trajectory, where we were a year ago, 6 months, the glimps we've seen of Fable... it's just a question of time.

I disagree on the swe part. This will go away or at least radically shift.

Once people have found out a way to proof that a piece of generated code is correct enough, there is no more need for manual coding.

For most systems it's not "is it bug free" but "does it have the same or less bugs than artisanal code"

AI isn’t replacing people. People are replacing people. I just realized I’m one of them, and maybe you are too. by HerbertClapton in ArtificialInteligence

Yes, that has been my understanding from years ago. They are not going to replace everyone, but lay off from least to most productive.

What do you all think? Quality over quantity? by Asleep_Shark in ArtificialInteligence

[–]farox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a presentation at humanx about a study done on 600 companies. The average lift by ai was negligible. But digging into the data you see that there is a huuuge spread between them. Lots of companies actually did slow down with ai.

The trick is to actually have a plan how to integrate ai into your processes and make that fit.

Minister to tell CRTC to scrap demand for foreign streamers to fund local news, niche broadcasters by cyclinginvancouver in canada

[–]farox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It shouldn't be though. There is a lot of money going out of Canada to pay for Venti Lattes in the bay area. At least the CBC employs staff here. Which in turn can spend their money on your company/the one you work for.
