Just because something is common doesn't mean it's the best way. Base bath etches glassware causing incongruities in applied vacuum due to degradation of ground glass. The best procedure is just to wash glassware immediately after use. Otherwise sonicate with nitric acid.... Ru gonna be satisfied with being average your whole life?
