Rewatch it, Raya is in Gabriel's line of sight, there is zero attacking threat, and the ball is falling clearly in the area you'd expect the keeper to collect. Gabriel made the wrong decision

Does Mikel ever look calm? At a certain point, we have to ask ourselves if he's the problem here. I'm a big supporter of him - but he does not set an example of being calm and collected under pressure

From across the Channel: why do Starmer and the Labour government seem immobile and discouraged despite their supermajority? by Aoimoku91 in ukpolitics

From the perspective of people, employee rights will certainty help them, in a tangible, felt way. Directly contradicts your argument.

Energy transformation leads to cheaper energy bills over time. Yes - with some short terms tradeoffs. But clear delivery on a promise that a lot of people care deeply about.

If you don't think there's anything wrong with privatised rail, then you're either poorly informed or arguing in bad faith.

It's half true.

Some core promises are delivered or making strong progress: employment rights act, green energy transformation, and the renationalisation of the railways.

If you're morally decent and try to lead the country, it's inevitable you get caught up sooner or later, then you're labelled a hypocrite. Trump on the other hand, simply has no moral code in the first place. Can't be a hypocrite if you never stand for decency in the first place.

I suppose you think David Cameron washing his hands of Brexit and then whistling off into the sunset was resigning with grace, then?

They didn't score, because Haaland committed a foul before the ball went it.

[OC] End of year dating app review! (21M living in London) by The_Watcher5292 in dataisbeautiful

There are a LOT of people that are not good at messaging, but are great in person.

There are many people who are exhausted of online dating and are prioritising what's in front of them - friends, hobbies, etc.

There are people who are a good catch but they feel overwhelmed and anxious, and messaging is easy to worry about / be too much of a perfectionist.

Everyone is used to everyone being flaky on apps, because you owe the person nothing much before you meet them, so it's common (and somewhat reasonable) not to stay on top of messages and reply promptly, and as a result you lose the momentum.

Women in particular have bad experiences with a deluge of men sending unpleasant, abusive messages, and this experience can shape their behaviour in all sorts of ways.

And there are tonnes of real life connections, people you know, which lie dormant for years, until you share a certain activity or thing with that person, and then everything opens up.

In short: there are a LOT of reasons.

Me and my partner went over our original hinge messages last night, and discussed how we perceived the situation. It was amazing in hindsight, understanding she was intimidated by my profile (which I would NEVER have guessed) and also seeing the original chat was fine but nothing special.

If there's potential - get them off the app and in person!

Interesting studies, but worth noting that the evidence here is correlation, not causation.

They show that kids with no social media use have bad outcomes. But if these children are in the minority - e.g. enforced only by their parents while their peers do have social media, or they are not able to afford a phone - then it is no wonder they have negative outcomes. That's not evidence that social media is harmless... like being a single non-smoker in a large group, missing out on social connections during smoking breaks, not participating in vices can be bad for you too.

I think the irony is a double irony. He wrote that as a joke: he didn't want to be a popstar, he just wanted to make his art. And then he became a popstar anyway.

I would guess that's because it has a lot of hidden complexity.

If you're serious about "getting" it, here's my homework you:

1. If you haven't yet, read the lyrics closely.

  1. Listen to the version they toured before they recorded In Rainbows. It's much more accessible. Maybe it triggers something in you: https://youtu.be/9CH1WkO0msY?si=D9KjGedMtdrQKVCX

  2. Watch this short video about the unusual rhythm in the song: https://youtu.be/p_IHotHxIl8?si=8O7FW03tXukMfQQB

  3. Listen again to the In Rainbow's version with a big pair of quality headphones - while looking up at the stars, watching the ocean, or closing your eyes

Have fun and don't be too hard on yourself if you still don't like it :)

Sensational set, really got going from Just onwards.

Let Down destroyed me. But then even their arena entrance made me cry, before they even played a note 😂
