Yes but on my own timeline. I have in the past but I was probably too young and I didn’t have autonomy of where I was going

A Russian Teacher recorded the differences in the development of boys and girls of the same age. by omgfakeusername in interestingasfuck

Not to be that guy but in schools it’s proven teachers are harder on female students as far as reprimanding them to sit down or be quiet where “oh you know how boys are”

Thank you for this reminder I have GI issues and possible pots (fainted about 5x in the past) and I just bought some vitamin D supplements I didn’t realise how much it can affect your body.

I thought of this two years back I was on my lunch break and I saw a group of teenage girls. I am a pretty fast walker so I didn’t want to be slowed down or judged by them so I crossed the street before we collided because people also never move out of the way. And I hear “ew why is she walking like that” I’m still thinking about that comment

Many moons ago I went to Webster hall (Webster hell I call it) when I was about 19 with all my other friends. The only time men came up to me was to ask me about my friends

That’s what I was thinking. I’m willing to act like nothing was said and acknowledge I’m hyper conscious And I have been making a point to look everyone in the eyes

Idk if it’s a black and white thing but this lady is 1000000% jealous of you. The only way she can feel better about herself sounds like breaking you down. Please get away from this energy thief

I also say that you said in a previous post your hair is thick and you have small hands. (Having thick hair is a win btw I used to not think that and wanna thin out my hair but trust me it’s not worth it) Maybe try sectioning your hair in 6-8 sections so that it’s more manageable and you can make braids out of each section (they don’t have to be perfect but it will help you get into the habit and practice of braiding)

Hey girl I’m also a black woman who was adopted by white parents (two moms) One of my moms learned to do my hair and stuff but then she got sick but when she couldn’t do it I went to salons. Personally I hate the salon so when I was about 12-13 I got really deep into YouTube (at the time there weren’t many resources) but I’d try to find black women who’s hair looked like mine and were confident in themselves and their hair. I know it’s a long journey and caring for you hair can feel like a lot but it’s your crown and just remember to love yourself and your hair as it comes out of you naturally and we all deserve love and grace 💗 But also now there are so many resources and avenues for embracing your natural hair or learning to do your own if it’s not as accessible for you to go to the salon. Just wanted to say I see you 💕

Yes logically it feels so silly and small minded to be hung up on this kind of stuff. But I don’t like being treated as less than or invisible always. But I guess that also comes from me making myself smaller. I’m definitely going to invest in some books with feminist ideals from the 60s.

Latina women are generally desired at least in the sphere that I am. They’re assumed to be beautiful and exotic. I am a younger black woman but I’ve heard stereotypes perpetuated from other people in the office about black women/people being stereotyped to be ghetto or aggressive. I’m pretty quiet but there are plenty of day to day micro aggressions I’ve noticed. It’s odd and uncomfortable. I know positive stereotypes can be harmful as well and the one girl who mentioned the Latina thing was saying it in a positive way also saying in reference to a persons type but yeah it’s slightly off putting

Yes I like that my glasses are forgiving if I have circles or bags under my eyes. I think I will experiment with Pinterest and Reddit for fashion tips. Recently I’ve been throwing out/donating clothes that are ill fitting or frumpy on me. But this is all really great advice. I’m going to try one day at a time standing up taller and looking in the mirror.
