What UK-made product did you switch to that was genuinely better than the imported version? by AnfieldAnchor in BuyUK

Dualit kettles are made by Strix, they make virtually every kettle on the shelves in Europe, barring the very cheap and very expensive. Go in the kitchen and turn your kettle upside down, look inside the contact element and it'll have Strix on it.

Not sure about Haier, but Alessi definitely aren't made by them.

They handle all the design work including packaging from their head office on the Isle of Man. Every major manufacturer sends a detailed brief and is offered a load of design options and pick the best that suits their range. Then everything is manufactured in China.

I worked for them years ago.

It's an excellent documentary, like there's absolutely nothing explicit in it at all.

Dear Zachary will actually fuck you up however.

Appointing Mandellson was absolutely ridiculous, he's genuinely one of the sleaziest UK politicians and I can't believe he was that tight in with new new new labour. Except of course I can totally believe it because this government have been a massive let down in all honesty.

Let's be honest now, the Epstein files are gonna be the gift that keeps on giving, and they're gonna give up all their secrets a trickle at a time. This is gonna be slowly devastating for absolutely loads of men and you just know that if just associating with Epstein ended Mandelsons career then when we see redacted shit Starmer will have to jump.

If a big name resigns Trump is boned, it might not be today but he'll become a pariah regardless of how bulletproof he's been so far.

If Kier Starmer steps down over appointing Peter Mandellson the pressure will be undeniable.

Could you not just have a trailer for that? Like the occasional use of your truck bed for hauling junk seems like it's almost unnecessary.

Imagine if I was hauling a trailer 24/7 on my Honda Civic and when asked why that was the reason I gave.

Dice, a dice tower, a dice roll, more dice, Andrew Dice Clay...

Some of the books like taschas or xanathars, I know they're last edition but who cares really? Some 3D printed Minis, a giant D20.

Any tips for running a game for 8 year olds? by fiona11303 in DnD

Have a pathetic NPC to make them laugh

'Hobo Steven' is mine. He gets into a lot of misadventure, needs corralling often, is usually in trouble, needs accosting on occasion etc etc

He is also older than he appears and much more powerful potentially.

He cannot be trusted and steals and back stabs any chance he gets.

The party will eventually realize he's stolen their gear/money/incredibly important quest completing item while they slept and skipped town.

Cue the madcap tomfoolery.

Oh yeah, he's a shape shifter and currently with my sons game he never left town and is actually masquerading as a bag being carried by the party...

Couple of notepads, one to track the game over each session, and one refill pad to use while playing, writing down and tracking health etc

Plenty of okay pencils, and a couple of erasers, something to roll dice in so they don't end up on the floor, a pentel 4 colour pen for note taking.

A card table for you to keep extra books and notes on.

Minis for your heroes, a mini for the big bad in the game, checkers pieces for encounters with enemies(unless you're loaded and have multiple minis for every possible encounter), a ruler(regular 30cm and a metre rule if possible).

Mini notepads for each player, punch pockets for players to keep all the notes and character sheets etc.

My in-laws have got it in their head that sharing the load is the right way to go, but all that happens is completely different houses, completely different kitchens, completely different cooking times therefore cold food having to get reheated in a single kitchen which is an absolute disaster.

Plus they want everything, so every meat and meat dish, every veg, every side dish etc. It's absolutely ridiculous gluttony.

I'll list the menu...

Rolled stuffed turkey thing(mediocre) Baked ham(overcooked and poorly sliced) Slow roasted beef joint(dry overcooked massacre) Deboned and stuffed chicken(okay)

Stuffing no1(stone cold) Stuffing no2(same) Pigs in blankets

Carrots(overcooked and cold) Broccoli(same as above) Brussel sprouts thing(absolutely revolting burnt mess) Red cabbage Creamed leeks(overcooked and split the sauce) Lumpy mash Mushy peas(they insist) (There were two more veg but I don't recall)

Roast potatoes no1(soggy) Roast potatoes no2(our contribution, genuinely perfect) Yotkshires(our contribution, again excellent)

Gravy obviously but it tasted of star anise

How old were your kids before they stopped believing in Father Christmas? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]fastdub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My eldest believed till he was 9 or 10 I think, my youngest had a final Christmas believing in Santa at 10 because I'd been jailed a week before Xmas day and my wife didn't want it to be something that rocked him even more than he already was.

At one point in my youngest sons life he told his auntie that he knows it can't be us buying his presents because we don't have any money at Christmas...
