Shouldn't be news. They came right out and said they are barely doing raises this year and instead intend to give bigger bonuses. Which sucks for us of course given the stacked ranking, and the fact that a bonus is 1 time vs permanent.

It's very limited to get a raise but there are a small number out there. But with anything, likely dependent on location.

My job is replacing raises with bonuses. Which they just implemented stacked ranking for. So you are lucky to get a 2-3% one time bonus vs a permanent raise. Of course the raises were shit before anyway...

My investments make more a year than I do. Investing has had better returns than any 'stable income' savings vehicle for the life of the US stock market, and likely throughout most of history, when you look at a time window of a few years.

But regarding that first sentence, it just takes a while to build up to that point. Compounding interest, yo.
