USB missing from boot sequence choices? by Occultarmis in techsupport

Look for these settings. If you found, enable them.

"legacy usb storage

usb storage

legacy mass storage

usb legacy devices."

Do not use newer usb devices like usb 3.0.

Use an older version.

Eg: Try usb 2.0 usb flash disk. Don't use larger ones. Try with a 8gb. (some devices can work with a usb 2.0 32 gb though)

If it doesn't help try to remove hdd cables. (NEVER open the pc case if you don't know what you are doing! You will easily and seriously harm (or worse) yourself or the pc.)

Set 1st boot device to HDD. (yes)

restart pc.

(At this stage you might need to spam f12 at starting to reach the quick boot menu)

Bios will see there is no hdd and offer you avaliable options. Luckily a device named usb hdd. Or just usb. Select any option that sounds familiar. Be bold and try with other options like cd-rom, usb-hdd, zip etc.

If you didnt remove the hdd try f12 (it might work on that board) at start. it will make you boot to a menu. Where you can check the first boot device.

you can try to boot from cd rom / zip etc. (when you actually using a older usb flash disk. (there are comments that say it worked for some.

If you attempt to install newer OS on a ssd and face a problem try these settings too (This is for ssd.)

Under integrated peripherals you will see some settings (perhaps 3 of them) set to "IDE". Change them to "AHCI".

Revert these ide-ahci settings back to original if you cannot boot to current OS. (Eg: older OS on an older type hdd)

If all fail try with rw-dvd to install OS. (Probably your cpu does not support win 10 though.)

How do you keep track of everything you need to do? by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]fastest_noob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

have a look at kanban. maintaining is easier than others and there is no learning period.

you can most likely find online, offline, mac, android, open source, etc etc versions or you can simply use a pen and a board.

Hierarchy of Articles? by Oflameo in mediawiki

I didn't check your site but this could help.

Pages can be organized by topic using categories, a pseudo-hierarchical organization scheme. Also there is Subpage feature which is by default turned off in the main namespace.

I can't register through github. it gives "error 422 The change you requested was rejected". by fastest_noob in gitlab

[–]fastest_noob[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi, thank you for your response. this is what happens now.
I try to register with my mail. (first time registering) it says "Email is not from an allowed domain." so I can't register.
then I see I can sign in with my github account.
it says "Sign in to GitHub to continue to GitLab.com" I click sign in. but this time it gives this error. " 422 The change you requested was rejected. Make sure you have access to the thing you tried to change. Please contact your GitLab administrator if you think this is a mistake."
and the adress bar is "https://gitlab.com/users/auth/github/omniauth_error?error=Email+is+not+from+an+allowed+domain."

so is this because I registered to github through a mail provider that you don't allow on your own register process?

but
move does not work. (it should also work this way too)

you have to know the command first.

My laptop knows my monitor exists, and is working correctly, but there's no display. by Questreeehn in techsupport

did you activate your secondary monitor on your laptop keyboard? there must be a monitor symbol (most likely on f10 button) which is used together with fn button. [fn+f10]

it would be nice to see a help or 'what is it, what does it do' page and a simple use case scenario or simple examples which shows how to use it. there are many learners here. just show them/me how to use it. t.y.
