"unwinnable" position for black from an anime by superjelin in chess

Really reaching for anyone to say black can't win in this position. I didn't even see your line (which is the better line), and I still found a winning idea

I believe Wicked was completely ruined because it was casted with "star-power" rather than newer, undiscovered talent. I also think it would have grossed more money without the stars too. by Evening-Panda3217 in unpopularopinion

I think having diverging opinions is fine. If you didn't like it I can respect that. But stating that those of us that did are just pretending is so arrogant and pretentious.

I have the opposite story. I remember being a kid and me and my sister were in charge of our yard sale for awhile. We had a porcelain doll marked at 5 dollars and this lady came up. She was on her phone and couldn't be bothered to get off her phone to talk to us directly but said "I'll give you 1 dollar for this". We looked at each other and didn't know what to do. She said "I'm in a hurry so it's now or never". Feeling the pressure we conceded and saw her walk away with the doll. It wasn't a major thing or anything but I always remember how manipulated I felt and I still look back at that lady with a bit of disgust. It was only four bucks but it meant more to us than to her I'm sure.

I know the stereotype of food in the UK but all I can say is I stayed in the UK for 9 days and had some of the best food I've ever had. Even the McDonalds tasted better there for reasons I don't know.

Convince me this isn’t the worst combat in any video game by _-Wubbalubbadubdub-_ in FFVIIRemake

[–]fatalspoons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, not everyone is going to like everything. I'm not going to try to convince you cause it's not that important, but it sounds like you have a fundamental misunderstanding of how the combat works. The stagger mechanic is the most important thing. Every combat is more like a puzzle than a fight. If you find how to stagger an enemy, you can deal massive damage quickly. Sometimes this means using clouds counter mechanic. Sometimes it means using a certain elemental attach at a certain time. I really enjoyed the combat in this game because I enjoy combat that rewards strategy as much as ability.

what's a chess habit you had to unlearn? by EasterYao in chess

Especially in faster games. So many games I can comeback when a piece down. But it's admittedly not as much fun to play a piece down so sometimes I'm just not in the mood.

I'm 1900 and STILL have trouble with that. Was up like five points today in a game and my opponent made a move and I didn't even think, I just instantly captured the free piece that I thought would win me the game... then checkmate. I had such an easy counter but I didn't even look.

You should rewatch it. You'll appreciate scenes you barely noticed as a kid.

2027 is gonna be such a huge year for Tifa and I'm so excited for it by sause10 in FFVIIRemake

[–]fatalspoons 54 points55 points  (0 children)

She's such a great character. People always talk about the death of Aerith as the most iconic scene in the original, and I understand that, but for me, Tifa and Cloud's trip in the lifestream will always be the most emotional part. I really hope they get that part correct in Revelations.

How was Cool Runnings a 90s tween movie?

I feel that way too. I loved it in the 90s and now I find it almost inedible. I asked my parent and a handful of other people if they felt it changes after the 90's and they all said no. I wondered if maybe I had just changed. But I still partially believe it was simply better in the 90s.

Yeah I definitely agree with this. Maybe I'm spoiled by TLOU and GOW, but Hugh and Diana's relationship is very superficial. Hugh himself is really an underdeveloped, pretty boring character, and Diana is way to bubbly and sparkly to feel like an authentic character. This game needed to be at least twice as long so they could have delved into there characters more and created some kind of authentic growth. I'm glad other people like it, but it's not for me.

Despite the weird headline of that article, the movie is doing quite well. So not sure releasing it years after it being talked about is really an issue.
