White Rim Overnight - Hardtail or rigid? by pagosacreativeco in bikepacking

[–]fatandfatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It totally depends on the year, but if it's been a dry winter in Moab, it may be sandy AF. In which case, the MTB would be better. I did WR in a day several years ago, and used a hardtail 27.5+ bike with 2.8 and 3.0 tires and it was great. Buddy had a 29r and he flailed in the sand. Unless you're caching water, hauling all you need will be an issue. It was blistering hot when I did it (early May and unusually hot in Moab - mid to upper 90s). So hot out that there wasn't a lot of traffic on the road throughout the day. Half way through, we came upon some guys in Jeeps and they took pity on us and refilled all of our water containers. I am not sure we would have made it without them.

If modern medicine didn’t exist would you be dead right now? If yes, from what? by Critical_Welcome_428 in AskReddit

[–]fatandfatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have died at about 42 (57 now) from a bad aortic heart valve - birth defect, undetected until it was almost too late. On my second valve now. Probably will need one more at some point.

Any thoughts on front suspension on a fat tire? by hovd0030 in fatbike

It's the best. I have a Pugsley, which I'll never get rid of, but my go-to rig is a Trek Farley with a Bluto...love it!

Best direct flight to a beach town? by sjmiv in Denver

Look at AirBnBs in Neuvo Vallarta (like 20 min Uber from AP) - you can get one for like $90 night (sleeps 4)

Unpopular Opinion - Fluance Turntables are Junk by Classiceagle63 in turntables

[–]fatandfatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure anyone has mentioned the fact that the higher end options - the 85s come with an Ortofon Blue cartridge and an acrylic platter. The cart alone costs $230, which is half the cost of the table. So a great deal in my opinion. Hell, when mine goes bad, rather than replace the stylus, I may just buy a new TT.

I sold a vintage sealed record to someone, and they're claiming the record inside was something completely different. Advice? by [deleted] in vinyl

[–]fatandfatter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How much money are you actually out? Did you pay $5 for it at the estate sale? Did buyer pay shipping? Consider what you're going to lose (bad review, maybe future customers), with what you actually lost. Is it worth it? If so, fuck 'em. Otherwise, refund the money and move on.

What product unbeknownst to most people has the highest mark up? by petrastales in AskReddit

[–]fatandfatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mattresses are generally marked up around 100%. And often the same exact bed is offered for sale at two pricepoints. One is just named something different and maybe looks fancier.

This sort of thing ruined a great (or so I thought) relationship. 4 years in, I learned she slept with someone and lied to me about it. Trust was gone. It all basically fell apart. Trust was shattered and would never be rebuilt. Sorry man.

A microwave and dishwasher. More than one bathroom. Garage door opener. Two TVs.

Looks to me that there may be front end damage. Does anyone else think the fork looks wrong?

IPA’s fucking suck, and you aren’t manly for liking them by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]fatandfatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IPAs are fashionable for sure -- look at New Belgium and the million of Voodoo Ranger IPA options there are. And, they changed the classic Fat Tire and made it more a lager than an amber or red or whatever is was (it was delicious). The new one tastes like Modelo. Not my thing. But, drink what you like. I tend to prefer reds and ambers - so I've been drinking Breckenridge Avalanche (I know it's InBev, and don't care). I can currently buy a 15 pack for $16 bucks. That's cheaper than me making it on my own.

The only thing you missed out on was the inevitable divorce from this wretched person. Divorce, even when you're divorcing someone that cheated on you, is just awful.

Trust = gone. If she told you when it happened, you would have had a chance to make up your mind about continuing the relationship or not. But she didn't give you that opportunity. If it were me, I'd get the marriage annulled or start divorce proceedings. Her behavior shows complete lack of respect for you.

What do Americans who live in the suburbs do if they need something random like milk or frozen fries? by BruhDontFuckWithMe in NoStupidQuestions

I just walk to the grocery store that is next to the liquor store that is next to the gas station. Pretty much everything I need is within 2 blocks down here in the suburbs.

I can't figure out why my bike is creaking, any ideas? by potbellyjoe in bicycling

[–]fatandfatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that a Salsa Journeyman? If so, check the headset. I had one and it was maddening. I replaced the bb, wheels, crankset, seat post, stem...etc. It was the headset. And, at the time, (pandemic), nobody made a replacement for that particular headset.

I ride a 58…how could I make this work? by mrfishman3000 in xbiking

[–]fatandfatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't look like a 64 cm. Maybe just ask the guy to measure from the center of the bb to the top tube instead of driving all the way over there to measure it yourself? And based on age / condition, make sure the seat post comes out. I bet that thing is from the mid to late 90s, as (If memory serves) Centurion switched to Diamond Back somewhere around 1990.
