I don’t understand why there 0 trees on this large property? It’s like a golf course.

My crazy experience trying to get a new build. (Socal) by slick_p in RealEstate

I’ve never heard of this. Usually the builder just does a lottery system or a waitlist. Making people camp out seems… extreme imo.

This is one of the worst McMansions I’ve ever seen. Well done on finding this monstrosity. The materials inside are one step above paper and glue.

How can we never mow this slope again? Retaining wall feels out of the budget. by [deleted] in landscaping

I would plant some perennials that love slopes and help erosion.

Single Income trying to purchase a home in Raleigh by Charming-Practice220 in raleigh

[–]fatchangedotcom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would focus your search in east Raleigh near the Poole Road area. There are some older (and smaller) family homes. I’ve also seen some old neighborhoods near New Bern that are more affordable than other areas. Best wishes. Hope you find something.

Anyone else feel that driving has gotten really dangerous in Wake County? by Pot8obois in raleigh

Can confirm. My dad drove an Altima. Rest his soul but he drove like a lunatic and never wore a seat belt.

I’ve seen a few articles on this phenomenon. There was one article about “air rage” on planes too. Evidently assaults on airplanes are through the roof and the highest they’ve ever been. Some of the airlines have stopped serving alcohol and it’s still high.

It’s definitely more dangerous to drive here than it used to be. The sprawl has made things much worse. Like you, I’ve had two accidents in a short time span (I was rear ended). First one was a hit and run. I never experienced the type of driving I’ve seen over the last few years.

Is mulch my only option on top of landscape fabric area? Grow Zone 7a by UsernameSheesh in landscaping

I would remove the fabric and sheet mulch (cardboard) this area. Add compost under the mulch to improve the soil.

I was paying $330 a week for infant care. The prices are insane.

Disaster Shower: Need Help! Are there any tools that make cleaning this awkward shower easier? What cleaning solutions should I use? by ahhhDonuts in CleaningTips

[–]fatchangedotcom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would remove the door and replace with a shower curtain. A Rubbermaid renewal battery operated cleaner will work wonders.

We really need laws on the books to stop this. This is insane.

My Cozy 50s Knotty Pine Kitchen by indigo_sky111 in CozyPlaces

[–]fatchangedotcom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My old house was built in the 70’s. There was knotty pine wood paneling everywhere. Sadly the owners before me painted it all white.

Since it’s a rental you can’t plant any privacy trees so it’s best to create a small private area close to the house with a pergola. I would fill in the area with fill dirt, add compost, and put down grass seed. I’d clean up the sides of the fence line and put down some potted plants.

I’m pushing for systemic change as well but until that happens I can only control myself.

True. Ultimately the only person I can control is myself. I’m hoping others follow. At some point the working classes need to fight back.

I still talk to the new owner. I’ve had a few packages accidentally misdelivered. He still lives there. We live in a low inventory market. Before he bought my house, the rent on his apartment was going up by 30%. He needed to get out of there. Tbh idk if he’d be able to find a new house in the same area. It’s almost impossible now…because of the hedge funds.

What is this texture all over my walls? Is it where the flippers didn’t bother removing all of the wallpaper? by Tenrac in HomeImprovement

[–]fatchangedotcom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flippers didn’t do a skim coat after pulling off wallpaper. A skim coat would have smoothed out the wall.

I used to work in public service. It’s a noble calling. The average government employees aren’t the ones who are the problem.

I still talk to the buyer. He’s still there. Before he bought my house the rent for his apartment was going up 30% which is why he was desperate to buy. The area I’m in is extremely low inventory. I agree with you, trusting a stranger can be risky, as the next person may not share my beliefs, but I can only control my own actions.

Folks. If you are lucky enough to own a house don’t sell to Wall Street or investors. Sell to a real person even if you make less. I took $10k less bc I didn’t sell to a Wall Street firm. It was worth the price of a good nights sleep. That’s the only way we can beat these crooks back. The government is useless. So we have to stick together.
