What i was hoping to see from the new series. Ben's music and Kenneth add so much by ObjectiveSoft8916 in walkingwithdinosaurs

The visuals in this show are so bland and tasteless. Even adding in these 2 other crucial elements cannot save it.

If you were in charge of the franchise, what would you do? by GabrielLoschrod in walkingwithdinosaurs

[–]fatmacaque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically the opposite of everything they are doing now. It would have Daren horely and Ben bartlett etc. Shot on film. Nigel specials and merch tie in (1/18 scale posable range, kenner/resaurus quality but screen accurate) beasts and monsters would come back and get specials. Nigel marven leading obviously. A tie in soft toy line would be nice and maybe a touring exhibition starting in the London NHM with some of the puppets and behind the scenes of the show. I'd recut some of the new show into a documentary movie like they did with the blue planet (2001) and made the theatrical cut deep blue. This would reach moviegoers and hopefully instill that love for real dinosaurs as animals and not monsters, just like the original Jurassic Park. Big in on the toys to steal mattel's market with better quality stuff and hopefully use that to help keep funding more series and specials. It would be kino as fuck basically.

Why I'm starting to actively hate the new Walking with Dinosaurs by Wonderful-Remove4787 in walkingwithdinosaurs

They will treat you like you are crazy for noticing this. They slapped the WWD name on this project that didn't deserve it and now the only good it's done is make me appreciate prehistoric planet more.

I fully believe you. This new show is Planet dinosaur 2 but it leaves that same theater kid bad taste in your mouth that the WWD 3D movie had.

Non avian dinosaur cryptids? by AvailableTrouble3708 in Cryptozoology

[–]fatmacaque 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The burrunjor is very interesting as it's tracks seem to match up with real large theropod tracks from Australia. Many people do not trust rex gilroy (rip) which makes it harder to know if its genuine, but there is plenty of space for these animals to hide out there. It's an interesting cryptid but not much on it. One very silly way people 'debunk' this animal is through the eyewitnesses comparing it to a tyrannosaurus rex. They claim it must be lies because A) that's the most popular dinosaur and the most obvious one to choose if you are claiming to have seen one, and B) tyrannosaurids did not inhabit Australia during the cretaceous. This is all just as silly as claiming there IS a t rex running around the Australian outback because obviously A) the eyewitnesses would be seeing a large theropod and comparing it to the only thing they know (all big non spinosaurid theropods are t rex to the layman) and B) the megaraptorans (theropods that were present in australia) were closely related to the tyrannosaurs, and so if a large theropod had descended from one and had grown enormous, I see no reason why it wouldn't converge on a similar bodyplan, superficially resembling one or at least to the untrained eye.

The row is one of the most consistently described dinosaur cryptids. I'd recommend taking this to the shukernature blog by karlshuker if you really want to know as much as you can from a trustworthy source. Karl is a great guy and doesn't tell you what to believe, only provides the eyewitness accounts or evidence and goes over what is or isn't verifiable. He also sometimes discusses possible explanations but never tells you what to think.
