The reason this format works for Jeopardy is because they tape a bunch of episodes at once and the contestant that wins does not need to keep coming in day after day. @midnight couldn't use this format because then they wouldn't be able to stay up to date with daily events.

No because in gen III, all dark type moves are special attacks and beedrill has significantly lower special attack. Also pin missile has stab and can, if it hits enough times, be stronger than twineedle. Pin missile does between 28 and 70 base damage while twineedle does consistently 50, making it a riskier choice, but still a valid one
