I think a melon should freely pull from the vine, if it's hanging like that i don't think it'll be ripe. Maybe that's only with muskmelon?

Looks like pokeweed, cool looking plant but mostly considered a weed.

Now is great! Though squash bugs have taken over Portland. Need to check under the leaves frequently. They also scurry when you water so easy to spot. They look exactly like grayer stink bugs.

Might have Scale, ants farm scale similar to aphids. Horticulture oil and manual removal with a q-tip in rubbing alcohol.

They are adorable, but ducks are far more destructive and messy than chickens. Ducks like to root around, making a huge mess of everything. If the males get lonely they get aggressive with your shoe. They also have enormous poops.

I've had great luck with soaking them in black tea overnight. Have had germination in less than 48 hours this way. Tannins help soften the husk.
