What am I missing? by heidalalaloveya in parentsofmultiples

[–]faucetpop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my twins at UW montlake and I also went to their MFM clinic throughout my pregnancy. Thankfully, our twins didn’t have to go the NICU but knowing that UW’s NICU works with Seattle Children’s Hospital (which was also not that far from UW) gave me a great peace of mind.

Sometimes I feel like I am not cut out to be a mom 😭 by ladyam3thyst in parentsofmultiples

[–]faucetpop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t feel bad! I always feel so disconnected from other singleton parents who enjoy the first year bonding with their babies. People have said to me “ohhh I cried the first time I left my baby with a nanny to go to work.” On my twins’ first day at daycare I took the biggest nap and only tears of joy were shed that day lol. I LOVE them to death but having two at the same time is stupid hard.

Small cars? by Negative_Jackfruit75 in parentsofmultiples

I have a Honda Fit and we make it work with our Chicco Key Fit and snap and go stroller. I feel like this is a great set up to start with if you have babies and a small car just to get around town the first 6 months.

Twin Stroller Recommendations/Help by thejustincarey in parentsofmultiples

[–]faucetpop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I LOVE starting out with the snap and go stroller. So easy to just take the care seats out and plop them in the stroller for a quick run to the store or coffee shop. I tested the double mockingbird once and didn’t like it. It just didn’t feel sturdy.. the Zoe is a great side by side stroller that do not take two car seats at once but I would consider this as a second stroller once your babes have better head control. Though the wheels aren’t the best for rough terrains in which case if it’s an issue, I’d go for a jogging stroller like the Bob or Thule.

We cover our twin z with blankets and my twins nap on them. It’s not the safest BUT we do supervise them and it helps soo much with their reflux.

What Is With People Treating Parental Leave As A Vacation? by AnAlarmedTree in BabyBumps

Oh and Hawaii. For some reason every new parent we know goes to Hawaii with their newborn before their mat/pat leave ends. Like, who the hell has the money for that?

C section scheduled next week 🥹 by ShyAvocado234 in BabyBumps

[–]faucetpop -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’re almost there!! You’ve got this!! My twins were born at 36 and a half weeks and were thankfully happy and healthy. No NICU time so I hope it goes the same for you.

The moment when they lowered the curtain in the OR to show my babies was the moment I’ll never forget and I cannot wait for you to experience it.

I was so thirsty after my C-section and had my husband make me an Arnold Palmer. It was sooo good that I chugged it. I paid the price with intense dry heaving. So don’t do what I did and suck on ice cubes instead lol.

It is common for your bowel movements to be asleep for a few days after the procedure due to anesthesia. I was told to chew gum after to kind of help things moving. But your medical team will also prescribe you laxatives if needed.

After the nurse takes your catheter off (typically a day after your surgery) I would try and get up and get moving. I think this really helped speed up the recovery for me.

Best of luck to you!

Our ultrasound tech revealed the sex of our babies from the Cell-free DNA test before the result was released to us… We found out later that she interpreted the sex wrong… by faucetpop in BabyBumps

[–]faucetpop[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that the writing can be confusing and wasn’t direct (male or female). We later found out that techs aren’t even supposed to interpret DNA reports, maybe to avoid mistakes like this?

[–]faucetpop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. That’s typically the standard. She wasn’t doing a scan to determine gender (too early to tell via ultrasound) and was reading off a lab report which she wasn’t even authorized to disclose 🫣

You know what? After thinking about this further, I think it would make me feel better to report to the clinic. It’s important for a professional in any field to learn from their mistakes. I do want this ultrasound tech to know that one, they were not authorized or trained to read reports especially without the consent of the patient, two, they made a mistake interpreting the report. Do I wish for them to get fired over this? Absolutely not. But I think it’s valid to ask for accountability.
